Halo 3 Anniversary: Can it revive the franchise?

My first Halo game was CE when I was in 2nd grade, I was immediately hooked. In the 4th grade I got Halo 2 and spent hours searching for the ghost of Lockout and trying to get the golden warthog. So when Halo 3 was announced my could hardly contain the excitement of finishing the fight. September 25th 2007 my wish came true and one of the best games of all time came out, I ended up playing nearly 10,000 matches and there are plenty of reasons why.

  • Bungie Favorites - Regular decently large DLC - Appropriate ranking structure - Staying true to the franchise gameplay wise - New elements + old onesIf you are a long time Halo fan then I hardly need to get into detail regarding these topics. I am 20 years old now and I have not bought a Halo since the disappointment with 4. I urge 343 to remake Halo 3 Anniversary and not touch a single thing that the game had. If they remade that game EXACTLY as it was the community would be overjoyed. With exception to forge because it does look like its been improved on greatly. Its easier to hold onto old customers than it is to get new ones, so why have they changed the formula for a Halo game so drastically that its a shell of its former self? I standby my boycott of 343s awful games until I see something that acknowledges what the community wants.

I will say i don’t see them making a Halo 3 Anniversary despite how awesome it would be for the franchise and more importantly the fans. You aren’t missing out at all with the 343 Halo’s. It is disheartening that I see so many long time Halo fans in the forums who’s opinions seem to be tucked away and not heard from. I see so many people like yourself who are pretty much being forced to watch your beloved franchise since the beginning burn.

Back to your topic though 343 wouldn’t put the time in to make the game as it was before anyways. They haven’t done it for either of the Anniversary games and the don’t seem to want to push the franchise back to it’s golden days. Games need to evolve and that is mindset it seems 343 is sticking with. If they pulled an activision (I know what people are thinking now “Oh god CoD”) and Remastered Halo 3 in the same regard CoD is being done with the old multiplayer (although limited) it would be awesome and the community would eat it up alive. The issue I see with that is that they wouldn’t want to release it near Halo 6 at all as it may split the user-base between two games.

TLDR; As awesome as it would for a Halo 3 Anniversary to happen i think it is highly unlikely and even if it does happen it wouldn’t be as full fledged of a release and wouldn’t be quite the return people would expect.

^sad but true

Halo 3 was great because Bungie was great and fully invested into their games and their community. They always had spotlighted members of the community every week, had Double EXP playlists every weekend, played with the community fairly often, and had amazing, high quality DLC. All those things plus an amazing game gave us, at the time, something we’ll probably never experience again. If 343 were to release a “Halo 3 Anniversary”, it would be a flop. The only people who’d enjoy it our Vets like you and me because we played Halo 3 in the glory days. It just wouldn’t sell well and it just wouldn’t be the same

They changed it so much because 343 wants to appeal to Call of duty fans, and since there are so many Call of duty fans that means that they’ll make a lot of money off of them. So they basically made halo into Call of halo because they are the greediest company on Earth.

How gloomy…with sales being so low for these past few games and the population dropping in just months why wouldn’t they go back to what worked?!? It wasn’t broken before! Why did they have to do this to such a well developed and caring community and franchise? It’s saddening to say the least…

I agree man, I wasn’t a fan of 4. Halo 5 was ok but at least it was a large improvement of 4. I Love the original Halo so much, Halo 2 anniversary was great. Same with CEA (campaign wise) Halo 3 anniversary is something the franchise desperately needs in it’s current state.

them not making it is a good thing because 343 melt every old halo game they touch

Our best hope is Creative Assembly and Blur. I have to agree with Raven01 , 343 ruin every Halo that they get hands on. Thankfully CEA is actually the only Classic Halo they have worked on. Creative Assembly and Blur did most of the touch up work on TMCC. It just uses 343s’ horrid net code , and UI.

I would still buy it. And knowing 343. They would remove local split screen…:frowning:
