Hello there, I’ve recently gotten back into Reach and I’ve been eyeing some of the armour pieces you get from Waypoint. Unfortunately, I’ll need a few achievements from Halo 3 to get these.
I’ve still got my old Xbox 360 (for the Waypoint application, and a real copy of Halo 3 if it comes down to that) but unfortunately I only played Halo 3 through the MCC. I’m wondering if I buy a digital copy of Halo 3 on the Microsoft store and get the achievements on my Xbox One if they’ll be accepted by Waypoint on the Xbox 360? I’ll be doing this all on the same account, of course.

It doesn’t matter where you play the game as long as you unlock the achievements on the 360 version of Halo 3. When you play on a 360, the console is playing the game directly from the disc or hard drive. When you play it on One using backwards compatibility, the console is running an emulator. It’s essentially running a slightly dumbed down version of a 360 by leveraging the increased power of One.
