Halo 2A Epilogue and Prologue

As I was browsing halo on youtube I came across this… Halo 2 Anniversary Prologue and Epilogue - YouTube

It was weird because when I started Halo: TMCC I didn’t get to see this. Do these only come up on the legendary difficulty or something?
Anyways, that’s not the point of this post. What do you guys/girls think of locke? I don’t really like him and I think either we will fight him as chief while allied with the arbiter or locke will “see the light” and figure out ONI is bad. I really hope 343 won’t kill off Master Chief and replace him with Locke. Honestly I would probably stop playing Halo all together. PS The arbiter looks sick with his golden armour!

In Nightfall, I can see why Locke is leader of the team; supremely confident, dedicated and seemingly well respected by his team. I think Randall respects him or is just being respectful because a) he needs Locke as much as Locke needs him and/or b) is just acknowledging Locke as leader of a team and showing him respect as such. For these reasons, I can see why Locke became a Spartan (either asked to be or was asked to be) and why he would be the one to be sent after the Chief. I haven’t seen anything so far to suggest Locke is being set up as a replacement for the Chief though.

Exactly my thoughts I don’t know why this community is so extreme 343 gives us am inch the community makes it a mile where does this theory of Locke being a replacement come from? He is just a playable character did the arbiter replace chief? The rookie? Noble six?

Good, if you’re not willing to accept change, then you shouldn’t be getting invested in franchises anyway. By the looks of things Locke will never be killed by nor kill the Chief, and he certainly isn’t his replacement, as he left the UNSC.

When the Reclaimer Saga has come and gone, 343i will move away from John, its inevitable, if you wan’t to jump off by then please be my guest.

Why don’t you like Locke? From what i’ve seen in Nightfall and the MCC he seems like an alright guy and a good leader.

I don’t know why everyone thinks Locke and Chief are going to kill each other. Locke seems like he has a lot of respect for Chief. When he was asked by the Arbiter about if Chief is his foe and about why Chief went AWOL, Locke says he’s going to find out. So I don’t think he’s hostile.

People seem to dislike Locke solely because the Chief now has to share the spotlight with him or Chief fans are threatened that he may replace John (which Frank already confirmed isn’t happening). Seriously get over it. The Halo universe does not and never will revolve around the Chief. He’s a central part of it but he isn’t the only part of it. There’s plenty of other characters (great characters) that we’ve had the pleasure of being introduced to since Halo began.

Welllll, according to The Librarian, the Chief (and Cortana) are a culmination of a 100,000 years of work or something(Not to mention being the savior of Humanity and the galaxy in general). So in a sense, yea, he is at the center of the Halo universe at the moment.

Missing the point as usual. Halo DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND CHIEF. He is not the only important character in Halo. He is not the only pivotal character in Halo. He is not the only great character in Halo (though I don’t really consider Chief to be all that great of a character but I know others do). There are other pivotal characters and moments that happen in Halo that have absolutely nothing to do with Chief.

Hey hey, easy now. All I’m saying, in response to your “The Halo universe does not and never will revolve around the Chief”, is that in present time the universe does in fact greatly depend on the Chief. If the actions of the Chief have repeatedly saved the galaxy and all its inhabitants from being wiped out by the Halos or stopped the Flood from consuming all life or even temporarily halting an ancient forerunners plans, I consider him to be the character with the most impact on the fate universe as we know it (in present time).

This is probably just an issue of what exactly you meant by “Halo Universe”, but I felt like I should get my opinion out there :stuck_out_tongue:

Chief and the other Spartans. Chief is the finest and probably first example of a 100,000 year plan coming together, he is not the only example. He’s what humanity can become and more, is the hope for the future.

I thought it was only the Spartan II’s(The very few remaining to boot)? Maybe other people in the universe (Spartan III’s and IV’s included) sure, but I feel I’ve read somewhere that only he has “enough” of that “geas” to insure success.

The s-III don’t have the geas, in fact the sentinels on onyx didn’t recognise them as reclaimers.
All the S-II seem to be reclaimers, but chief is the selected one, let’s say he has a special geas, which manifests as luck. Luck that comes from librarian’s influence, that made him win the coin and be selected for the s-II, that made Halsey choose him as leader and cortana as her companion.
Pas for the S-IV “some more than others” as Halsey told thorne. Specifically Thorne for sure is a reclaimer as he is always the one to activate forerunner stuff.
An example of a non reclaimer/without geas/without “enough” geas is glassman, opposed to Halsey that managed to talk with librarian thanks to what she called a “more human touch”.

I like Locke.

Really? I would never have guessed =P

Locke is pretty cool so far. He’s level headed, he’s skilled and he’s pretty smart. Can’t wait to see some more Character development with him.

I never said that. I said I don’t consider him to be a great character. There’s a difference. I like Chief and a lot at that. He’s probably one of my favorite characters in the Halo series up there with Fred, Forthencho, and Kurt, but just because I like him doesn’t mean I view him as a greatly written character because I simply don’t.

Wow, calm down calm down. I am only speculating and saying what I think. I am not saying concretely that I will leave Halo. I am just afraid if 343 might do this it will greatly impact Halo on a grand scale. They did suggest in Halo 4 that Master Chief is going to be replaced (certain says so, Halsey says so) well at least attempt to replace him. I hope he isn’t a replacement. and don’t tell me “If I’m not willing to accept change then i shouldn’t get invested in the franchise”. I’ve been invested since the first halo release and first Xbox release. I purchased every book and every game and every comic. My gamertag is purely halo with my name. So don’t tell me something like that. I am fully invested in the franchise and I love the chief. I like 343 story telling. They even killed cortana off which I totally think was a great twist and to bring out chief’s identity. But without chief there is no Halo. Its like super mario bros without super mario.

Like I said I am not saying 343 will kill off chief. My tread is asking “what do you think of the cutscenes with locke and the arbiter” and I gave my idea or what I think I saw. I can be wrong, I can be right, we don’t know. Discuss don’t judge

Frankie has already said that they are not moving away from Master Chief.

I got chills when they said he went AWOL. John is becoming more of the protector of sentinel life, than a UNSC toy finally. This might mean more dialog!! Ha.
