HALO 2014

I will (probably) always be excited for a new Halo title.

However this one is the first that I am keeping my anticipation in check. I have never been more excited for a game than Halo 4. First game I ever pre-ordered and went to a midnight launch for. And honestly I have been quite disappointed.

I have hopes but 343i has a job to do with this game - win back the fans. They butchered Halo matchmaking and they have a helluva lot to clean up in the next game. The campaign was OK but I don’t expect OK from Halo. I want damn-near AMAZING and if this Halo is anything short of that…lets just say it’s competition is NOT forgiving and I see a lot of promising FPS entries on the horizon.

Can’t help but be excited (DEDICATED SERVERS) but gawd do I want a return to form for my favorite series of all time. I will NOT tolerate being disappointed again. Halo needs to have one of the best campaigns of the series, and THE best matchmaking. No excuses. Other IP’s are raising the bar (Destiny, Titanfall OMG) and I need Halo to raise it further.

I feel now is the time to be outspoken more than ever to make sure 343i does Halo right this time.

To the future of Halo!

(& the demise of camo and plasma grenades in loadouts, personal ordinance, instant-respawn, lame maps, HOST)

Well if you don’t form any hype over it, you won’t have any expectations to be unfulfilled. That way you wont be disappointed. Plus if you find out about stuff yourself as you play the game it’s a lot more fun, than just knowing everything about it before you even play it. That’s just my opinion though.

I’d like to do that, but it’s really hard to do especially if you don’t want to buy a bad game.

It is difficult, I basically just watch the trailers and that’s it, I don’t read any of the info the game developers release, or watch any gameplay outside of it being a trailer, that way I can still tell if I’d like it or not, without ruining too much. But obviously it is easier to do with a sequel to a game series you already know you like, rather than a new game you are considering to buy.

Here’s one expectation H5 will fulfill:

NO P2P HOSTING

That’s enough for me.

Yay!

True. I overhyped H4 to oblivion and look what it got me. As much as I don’t want to be let down I simply can’t help but be excited for stuff I anticipate - often to the final products detriment because I expect so much. Thankfully, I guess, I’m not brimming with enthusiasm for this next Halo so it has the prime opportunity to floor me.

Meh. Killjoys.

Overhype it all you want. A good portion of the fun of being part of a series is imagining just how good it can be. It’s also what motivates people like you to take the time to post issues with the product you get.

Without that enthusiasm, no one would post anything and the games would not improve. They would just die away. If Halo were really dead or dying, this forum would be an empty hall. The fact that it’s boiling over with criticism means the appetite for Halo is voracious.

I don’t want to get burned again so I’m tempering my expectations. That can only help my impression of it.
