343i I am asking if it is too much trouble to make Halo 2 for XBLA with XBL support. NOT just a regular games on demand version.
For $15 from XBLA
Supporting XBOX Live
include ALL Halo 2 map packs
If not PLEASE add to games on demand for $10…we can always play XBC lol but the map packs are getting rare. and the updates are available for halo 2 so it cant be that hard can it?
PS i see all these games on demand games on XBL marketplace, but if halo 2 was not the most played xbox original game what was. you would think the most popular would be prioritized.
There is a dedicated by extremely small amount of dedicated players on H2V, 50 at any time…but for peak times? From what I hear it’s around 300-500.
I don’t know what gametypes everyone hosts, if it’s reasonable stuff like BRs and SMGs on Wizard then sure, as long as a lobby or two is up it’ll be fun. You can get to know everyone, but knowing people in general…they may do really dumb gametypes.
Plus you can make your own maps in H2V, I’m not sure how it is compared to making Custom Edition maps and how they work in game, but you can. Sad thing is Custom Edition peak time has thousands of players than H2V and it’s older.
For the real topic of an XBLA release of Halo 2 with XBL support? 343i may just do it just to appease Halo 2 players, but I have to ask why…with the right setting in the Reach TU, it can play out very similar to Halo 2, barring dual wielding and the SMG. Plus we’ll have real remade Halo 2 maps in Anniversary, even Headlong…if people want Halo 2 again exactly as it was for all the cheap crap in it, leave me out of it and don’t assume even a lot of people want that.
“Superbouncin’! Even from alllll the way down here, you still look like a -Yoink-!”
“Button combos. Yeah, it’s cheating.” Halo 2 Final Day Bungie quotes. I can safely say what they said there is the tru7h. It is.
It is completely possible to add H2 campaign and multiplayer maps on the XBLA. Giving it Xbox Live capabilties, however, can prove more… difficult. Mainly because Halo 2 was designed to work on the Live of the original Xbox, it was not Bungie’s decision to shut down Halo 2’s Live, it was Microsoft’s decision to shut down all of the original XBL that shut down Halo 2’s online functionality. Giving XBL to Halo 2 would require 343 to design a new matchmaking system and that would require more time and money than they can really afford right now.
I do hope that Halo 2 does come to XBLA simply because I really want to play the campaign and maybe the multiplayer maps with some friends. LAN parties is the way to go, old school.
Only way to play Halo 2 again is to buy the PC version. Halo 2 Vista isn’t populated, but it’s still a lot of fun (especially if you can find the right people to play with) I would highly recommend buying it if you really want to play Halo 2 again, because they are BASICALLY (minor differences) the same game just that the PC version has achievements. If you don’t have Windows Vista or 7 OR simply a bad computer then you’re out of luck. Also I don’t think Halo 2 will be ported (and it definitely shouldn’t be remade, because it’s a masterpiece).
Regretably halo 2 pc isnt really the same as playin on console, much like playing Halo PC compared to halo xbox.
I just find it weird that i see SOOO many games on XBLA from original xbox when halo 2 is/was way more popular.
No button combinations arent cheating lol you think its a coincidence both halo 1 and 2 have button combination glitches and happened to be the most revered halos?
When people played halo they used to love pushing their individual skills as far as possible. Pushing their individual limits seeing how much better they could get. Now we are limited to shooting slowly bc of bloom, getting upset that running up and punching someone is more powerful than 4 shots. the slow gameplay is something that is causing the halo community to dwindle. hell reload cancel is so TINY of a change that could dramatically speed up gameplay (not cheating lol)
i guess ima have to settle with being disappointed like so many other long term halo fans.

“BXR. Yeah, it’s cheating.” -Halo 2 Last Day messages by Bungie. If you want Halo 2 because of stuff like that, well you’re not getting it.
Also, there was as much crying and whining for Halo 2 as there was for Reach.
Yeah, Halo is dwindling. This is why 600k play a day, more than any past Halo.
