Can you still get the campaign achievements for this game? Will it play on Windows 10 or would I have to have Vista? Just wondering before buying a copy of the game.
According to the TrueAchievements page, it’s possible to get the campaign achievements. The threads on the forum for H2V on TA also have some good info (and other useless nonsense expected from people who live on the internet lol). I’m not too sure about your second question as I have not played the game on either Vista or W10. However, I seem to recall hearing about people being able to play on W10.

Yeah I get on TrueAchievements a lot, didn’t even think about it for this lol. I’m just curious because I actually have desktop still running Windows 7 so if I could I was gonna play it on that then update it. It’s been off for like 4 years now and never got updated from Windows 7 somehow.

Ideally, 343 would allow support for mods for halo 2 vista and thus be able to unlock online achievements… something similar as happens with surviving mars

The ‘cheating debate’ is a TrueAchievements specific thing, though and H2V is very much a corner case because of how few, proportionally GfWL there were.
End of the day: sad as it is, the official servers are gone and without them there is no official way to play online anymore. Same as every other game to have server closures.

yeah, just install the gfwl client first and then the game. As i said, you find all the files you need on the discord

I think (based on conversations I’ve had with him on TrueAchievements) he’s simply talking about the fact that Halo 2 (Vista) MP achievement unlocks since 31 October 2015 are considered cheating because you have to mod the game files to connect to an unofficial server due to GfWL being turned off which per Xboc and True Achievements policy is not considered legitimate for a game which doesn’t allow official mod support.
