Halo 2 Vista needs SUPPORT!

Halo 2 Vista has achievements. Halo Waypoint tracks Halo achievements; ergo Halo 2 Vista achievements should be tracked. Unfortunately this is not the case, Halo 2 Vista for the longest time has been ignored. Microsoft even announced the end of GFWL which raised interest in Halo 2 Vista because of its impending doom, but despite the odds Halo 2 Vista lives as the longest lasting online multiplayer of any Halo game. This begs the question, if Halo 2 Vista is not shutting down why is it not being tracked? Below is a list of reasons why Halo 2 Vista deserves to be tracked on Halo Waypoint.

1.) Halo 2 Vista’s Achievements are tracked on Xbox.com
The Xbox One version of spartan assault could not be tracked because Xbox One achievements were not tracked on Xbox.com which is the website that Halo Waypoint uses to verify the achievements. Halo 2 Vista has been tracked on Xbox.com for seven years! There is no technical reason why 343i cannot track Halo 2 Vista, Xbox.com already tracks it.

2.) PC games can be tracked too!
Before it was thought that Halo Waypoint was mainly centered around the console Halo games. Halo: Spartan Assault broke this belief because it is tracked on two platforms that are NOT consoles, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Halo Waypoint is for multi-platform tracking so I do not see why Halo 2 Vista should not be tracked even if it is a PC game.

3.) Halo games never die, they are only missing in action.
GFWL is not shutting down which means Halo 2 Vista is not going down either. In the top paragraph the source with Microsoft confirmation is available. Halo 2 Vista will continue to receive support, which demands support from 343i to track it here on Halo Waypoint.

4.) The first Halo game with achievements.
Halo 2 Vista is the first Halo game that included achievement support. Many believed Halo 3 as the first Halo game to support achievements, but Halo 2 Vista was released months before Halo 3 stealing the title as the FIRST Halo title with achievements. This a milestone we should praise not ignore, Halo 2 Vista is a trail blazer and deserves some support.

5.) The first Cartographer…
The first map maker ever in the history of Halo was released with Halo 2 Vista. Within the installation disc you could install an additional map maker program that provided tools to create unique maps for Halo 2 Vista multiplayer. Halo 2 Vista has a lot of firsts for the Halo series and it is time that it deserves some support on Halo Waypoint.

6.) What about Halo 2 Anniversary?
It has been brought up that because Halo 2 Anniv. is coming soon, that Halo 2 Vista should not be supported because that would create 2 achievement lists for the same game on Halo Waypoint.

a.) Halo 2 Vista and Halo 2 Anniv. are very different games despite being based on the same base. Halo 2 Vista is a port of the original content to the PC where as Halo 2 Anniv. is a remake with updated graphics and mulitplayer. Refer to this to see the comparison of images from both Halo 2 and Anniv. The difference in graphics and online multiplayer is jaw dropping, it is clear that Halo 2 Vista and Halo 2 Anniv. are not the same game.

b.) Halo 2 Vista and Halo 2 Anniv. may share similar achievement lists, but Halo: Spartan Assault has demonstrated that dual achievements are not a reason for lack of support. Spartan Assault has four achievement lists that are almost identical to each other, in fact the W8 and WP8 versions are completely identical to each other, but this is not a problem to 343i. Halo 2 Vista can be supported alongside Halo 2 Anniversary’s achievement list.

7.) More achievements, more levels on Halo Waypoint!
Adding Halo 2 Vista to Halo Waypoint’s career can expand the career system and possibly add more classified content. More levels is not a bad thing and neither is more classified codes so why not add Halo 2 Vista? It was the first Halo game to lead the charge into the Xbox 360 generation which demands support on the Career system.

Halo 2 Vista is a Halo game with achievements so I see no reason why it is not tracked. 343i has never stated anything about the reason why Halo 2 Vista is not tracked, in fact the only thing I can recall 343i stating anything about Halo 2 Vista is this

> We are continuing to support the Games for Windows Live service. As previously announced, as part of the retirement of Microsoft Points the Xbox.com PC marketplace was closed. Although customers are unable to purchase new games from the marketplace or receive title updates, they can continue to enjoy previously purchased content by downloading them through the Games for Windows Live client as usual. We remain committed to investing in PC gaming in the years ahead, and look forward to sharing more in the future.

Come on 343i show some commitment and track Halo 2 Vista on the career.

What you can do to help is keep this thread alive by posting, debating, or adding more reasons to why 343i should track Halo 2 Vista. If you are reading this please post support or disapproval, the only way 343i is going to see this is by the community keeping it alive.

I agree 100%.

I absolutely agree. Halo2Vista achievements should be tracked by Waypoint career.

However, it is clear that 343i simply does not want to integrate Halo2Vista in Waypoint career, probably because not a lot of people have it. So all the people who never played it, would have some “missing” achievements in their career, making them uncomfortable.

A possible solution, which has repeatedly suggested for years now, would be a “side career” for Halo2Vista.

So everyone who has the achievements would see them tracked in Waypoint, without them contributing to the Milestone and everyone else would just see nothing regarding Halo2Vista in their career.

However, I don’t see 343i picking up that idea, unfortunately.

It has always bothered me that they are not tracked. Hopefully they will see this thread.

I honestly feel that 343 somewhat neglects all games but Halo: Reach, Halo: Anniversary, and Halo 4.

Oh they neglect Reach as well my friend. They only support the games they have made.

I have been raising several of these same points for years OP… No one from 343i has ever addressed this issue (although 343i has confirmed in the Support Forum that they’re continuing to keep servers going for Halo 2 Vista). I never fully understood why this game was left out of the career milestone, but at the time I always suspected it had something to do with the fact that a different company (Hired Gun) made it. Now that 343i owns the franchise I see no good reason to exclude this particular title. Perhaps 343i is just unconcerned because there’s no real profit involved by encouraging gamers to buy Halo 2 Vista because another company gets the royalties (it would make sense as this is the same reason why 343i tosses legacy rewards aside)…

Halo 2 PC really is the black sheep of the Halo “family”. For this, there is no excuse. Microsoft is one of the wealthiest companies in the world. I would like it if Steam’s Spartan Assault and Halo 2 PC’s stats were tracked on this site too.

343i should at least come out and explain the reason why the have excluded Halo 2 Vista for so long.

I understand how royalties might be a problem, but all 343i would do, is track the achievements via xbox.com and put them in the milestone system. They own the franchise so I do not think they would have to pay much to include it here on waypoint.

I guess what really complicates the situation is how ambiguously vague 343i has been on addressing this topic. I recall someone from 343i tweeting that Halo 2 Vista will remain operational and encourages us to earn the achievements, but yet there was no mention of a possible inclusion of these achievements on waypoint. The only statements we get now are about Halo 2 Vista’s online capacities still being functional.

And also it was stated that a side career could be included and I agree, as long as it gets Halo 2 Vista tracked on the milestone system!

@UnheardCarnage: I’m right there with ya… Years ago I went out and bought Halo 2 Vista just for the Achievements; yet to my dismay they did not populate in my Halo Waypoint Career. I posted threads over here and in the support forum but no one from 343i ever commented. Some pessimistic forum users chime in that the game is unimportant or isn’t a true Xbox game (clearly they’re against it because they don’t have them), but I’ve never seen an official response from 343i… I’ve gotten official responses on Halo 4 threads and Halo Spartan Assault threads which leads me to believe that 343i has selective listening when it comes to our posts. Honestly I’ve come to find out that they don’t have to respond to this issue. I hear your arguments but yet since there’s no incentive for 343i to include these achievements they won’t do it. That’s all I can really say on the issue, speaking from experience over the years on this situation. Halo 2 Vista achievements are just another notch in the belt for diehard halo fans; yet are inexplicably excluded from your Halo Career Milestone (without reason or cause). At least you know you’ve got them and to me that still counts for something…

You believe that in two halo anniversary this super elite weapon throwing a giant green beam in the mission of the scarab, and I hope that if you want to buy forward but still I have the xbox one.

Spartan Assault is built as an app for Windows 8, not a program for PC

I do agree though, would love to see my H2V stats on waypoint!

Halo 2 Vista is my only GFWL game. My H2V achievements are listed on my Xbox Live account and my Xbox achievements are listed on the GFWL interface in H2V. If it can be done there, why not here?

Halo 2 Vista is broken anyway, also we all know cheating on PC is super easy, so we’d just end up all having 100% of those achievements…

It’s not console though. That would be like halo CE pc getting tracked on here.

I agree, I think it’s silly they haven’t made it apart of halo waypoint. I would at least like a reason why it’s not a part of it. But at least they show up on your gamer score.

Halo 2 Vista is way broken, considering there were hacks and exploits you could easily ruin MP, and get all the achievements in like 2 seconds with editors. Plus we’ve got Halo 2 Anniversary coming out here soon so who would want to pay attention to this?

What they could do is re-release it for the PC and support it then.

I wish they had it tracked. I have it 100% and plan on doing all Halo titles.
EDIT: They should re-release Halo 2 anniversary completely that’d be awesome!

Please don’t revive old topics thanks, especially ones that are over 3 years old
