Halo 2 Vista has achievements. Halo Waypoint tracks Halo achievements; ergo Halo 2 Vista achievements should be tracked. Unfortunately this is not the case, Halo 2 Vista for the longest time has been ignored. Microsoft even announced the end of GFWL which raised interest in Halo 2 Vista because of its impending doom, but despite the odds Halo 2 Vista lives as the longest lasting online multiplayer of any Halo game. This begs the question, if Halo 2 Vista is not shutting down why is it not being tracked? Below is a list of reasons why Halo 2 Vista deserves to be tracked on Halo Waypoint.
1.) Halo 2 Vista’s Achievements are tracked on Xbox.com
The Xbox One version of spartan assault could not be tracked because Xbox One achievements were not tracked on Xbox.com which is the website that Halo Waypoint uses to verify the achievements. Halo 2 Vista has been tracked on Xbox.com for seven years! There is no technical reason why 343i cannot track Halo 2 Vista, Xbox.com already tracks it.
2.) PC games can be tracked too!
Before it was thought that Halo Waypoint was mainly centered around the console Halo games. Halo: Spartan Assault broke this belief because it is tracked on two platforms that are NOT consoles, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Halo Waypoint is for multi-platform tracking so I do not see why Halo 2 Vista should not be tracked even if it is a PC game.
3.) Halo games never die, they are only missing in action.
GFWL is not shutting down which means Halo 2 Vista is not going down either. In the top paragraph the source with Microsoft confirmation is available. Halo 2 Vista will continue to receive support, which demands support from 343i to track it here on Halo Waypoint.
4.) The first Halo game with achievements.
Halo 2 Vista is the first Halo game that included achievement support. Many believed Halo 3 as the first Halo game to support achievements, but Halo 2 Vista was released months before Halo 3 stealing the title as the FIRST Halo title with achievements. This a milestone we should praise not ignore, Halo 2 Vista is a trail blazer and deserves some support.
5.) The first Cartographer…
The first map maker ever in the history of Halo was released with Halo 2 Vista. Within the installation disc you could install an additional map maker program that provided tools to create unique maps for Halo 2 Vista multiplayer. Halo 2 Vista has a lot of firsts for the Halo series and it is time that it deserves some support on Halo Waypoint.
6.) What about Halo 2 Anniversary?
It has been brought up that because Halo 2 Anniv. is coming soon, that Halo 2 Vista should not be supported because that would create 2 achievement lists for the same game on Halo Waypoint.
a.) Halo 2 Vista and Halo 2 Anniv. are very different games despite being based on the same base. Halo 2 Vista is a port of the original content to the PC where as Halo 2 Anniv. is a remake with updated graphics and mulitplayer. Refer to this to see the comparison of images from both Halo 2 and Anniv. The difference in graphics and online multiplayer is jaw dropping, it is clear that Halo 2 Vista and Halo 2 Anniv. are not the same game.
b.) Halo 2 Vista and Halo 2 Anniv. may share similar achievement lists, but Halo: Spartan Assault has demonstrated that dual achievements are not a reason for lack of support. Spartan Assault has four achievement lists that are almost identical to each other, in fact the W8 and WP8 versions are completely identical to each other, but this is not a problem to 343i. Halo 2 Vista can be supported alongside Halo 2 Anniversary’s achievement list.
7.) More achievements, more levels on Halo Waypoint!
Adding Halo 2 Vista to Halo Waypoint’s career can expand the career system and possibly add more classified content. More levels is not a bad thing and neither is more classified codes so why not add Halo 2 Vista? It was the first Halo game to lead the charge into the Xbox 360 generation which demands support on the Career system.
Halo 2 Vista is a Halo game with achievements so I see no reason why it is not tracked. 343i has never stated anything about the reason why Halo 2 Vista is not tracked, in fact the only thing I can recall 343i stating anything about Halo 2 Vista is this
> We are continuing to support the Games for Windows Live service. As previously announced, as part of the retirement of Microsoft Points the Xbox.com PC marketplace was closed. Although customers are unable to purchase new games from the marketplace or receive title updates, they can continue to enjoy previously purchased content by downloading them through the Games for Windows Live client as usual. We remain committed to investing in PC gaming in the years ahead, and look forward to sharing more in the future.
Come on 343i show some commitment and track Halo 2 Vista on the career.
