I have been campaigning players to play Halo 2 Vista recently, being that the game is the base code for Halo 2 in MCC, and will help transition players over to 60FPS Halo 2. Some players have begun to repopulate the game, but there are some issues that need to be addressed. If others have issues with the game, I will update the OP to reflect those issues:
[/li]- Anytime someone joins a game, the game stutters during the join in. This causes players to “teleport” and affects close range encounters especially.
- The game has broken audio input (microphone). Players cannot use in-game voice chat
- Some players have reported being disconnected from Live for no apparent reason. If this could be looked into, that would be great.
Outside of issues with the game, is it possible that the game can be digitally distributed on Steam? Many Games for Windows Live games are on there now, and this would be a great marketing position for the Halo franchise. Finding physical copies is not too difficult, but digital means would be a plus.
343 has stated that the base code for the original Halo 2 Multiplayer for TMCC is Halo 2’s xbox edition with the latest patch, the only thing coming from vista are the 3 vista exclusive maps.
As for the problems concerning Halo 2 Vista, It will likely get an update soon. Probably after 11/11/14 sadly, As for Halo 2 Vista on Steam, Microsoft has stated that for now its all about xbox one, but with Microsoft recently making official Halo 1, 2, and 3 groups on steam, and Halo Spartan Assault now available on steam, and seeing that Halo CE PC, Custom, and Mac multiplayer servers have been saved, I expect good news for Halo PC fans to be coming soon after the MCC is out.
Also the rumors are false, Halo 2 Vista will NOT be shutting down and the achievement will still be obtainable and linked to your xbox live account.

H2 in MCC IS actually built using Vista as a code base. Vista H2 is identical to xbox H2 as far as weapon balance is concerned. I’ve been playing in 1080p 60fps with an xbone controller for a week now and I will not go back to the original, it’s just that good.
It seems likely there could be a possible update if the Games for Windows Live service isn’t shutting down this month like it was rumoured. But I wouldn’t hold my breath at this point until anything official is announced.

Halo 2 vista is not shutting down, learn to use Google and stop spreading disinformation.
