halo 2 vista - menu lag after quitting multiplayer

I have a problem with Halo 2 Vista. Every time I try to play multiplayer (live or network) the game lags horribly and continues to do so at the menu, in campaign, etc until I quit and restart the game. This only happens when I try multiplayer (campaign works fine if i do it first). This has happened on two computers both running Windows 7. I have tried every fix imaginable and cannot fix it. PLEASE HELP

Have you tried forwarding ports on your router?

Port forwarding must be enabled on the TCP port 80.
Port forwarding must be enabled on the UDP and TCP port 3074.
Port forwarding must be enabled on the UDP port 88
Port forwarding must be enabled on the UDP and TCP port 53
Port forwarding must be enabled on the TCP port 443

I will try after school but I dont think thats it. It actually screws up the main menu too
