Surprise surprise, am I right?
So yeah, I’m sure you’ve all seen this before but I’m stuck with an install error, so far this game seems to be off to a great start!
The error is as follows:
One of the installation steps failed. Do you want to retry?
redists\vcredit.msi:
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.
Click Retry to attempt to complete the failed step, or click Cancel to cancel installation.
Obviously clicking retry does nothing, and I have no idea what support personnel to contact, so here I am with the dilemma. If it helps, I checked under “Services” for “Windows Installer” and found nothing.

Couple of things: What OS are you running on (e.g. Win Vista x32, Win 7 x64, etc.) and what specs do you have?
Try running that file on its own and see if it gives you the same error. If that is still not working, I suggest downloading and running CCleaner to clean out files and your registry; then run Windows update.
Are you using Windows 7? I heard Halo 2 Vista had a lot of problems running within the OS.

Not really. Those problems were fixed ages ago. It should be pretty smooth to install on Windows 7.
Have you got the games for windows live app. i think they did an update that stopped the error.I’ve just installed my copy on W7 and it installed without any problems and I can play the campaign.
BUT i cant seem to connect to LIVE. it tells me my product key is invalid even though i had to enter it for the game to install. Any ideas anyone?
