I find that at 78 FOV and centered crosshairs, every title except Halo 2 seems to match Halo: CE’s view model placements (or at least it’s pretty close.)
I’ve been trying to figure out what view model settings are best to have Halo 2 match the other games in the collection when played with 78 FOV and centered crosshairs.
Below is what I came up with so far: Z,X,Y = Depth, Horizontal, Vertical
- Melee = 0, 0, -10
- Pistols = 0, -11, -20
- Rifles = 0, 10, -10
- Heavy = 0, 10, -7
- Dual Wield = 0, 0, -10
This could be way off and I am completely open to feedback / correction!
When Halo: Reach initially launched on PC / was updated on Xbox One, its centered view model was a little off with the weapons being raised too high, just like they are in Halo 2.
It wasn’t until (I believe) Halo 3’s addition to PC / update that their view models were updated. As Halo 3’s centered crosshair view models very closely resembled Halo: CE (comparing the ARs for example.) This continued with ODST and then Halo 4, but Halo 2 never had its view models updated to be in line with the other games.
Since Halo: Reach was updated to resemble this “standard centered view model” look, it would be great if even someone at 343i could post their thoughts on what the view model values should be used for Halo 2 - rather than having to have a whole game update.
