Halo 2 Veterans

Hey Halo community! Comment if your a fellow veteran to Halo 2, explain your story and experience.
I started playing Halo 2 (my first Halo game) back in 2006 and it changed my life. I became embraced in fantastic multiplayer, the awesome community and the ever so expanding lore. These traits still continue for me, nearly 10 years later.

I started with CE and lived in the hype around Halo 2. The E3 Campaign demo, the trailers, and went to the midnight launch for Halo 2. I’ve loved that game from start to finish. I really miss those days when everyone was playing Halo 2

I was about 12 and my brother was 11 when Halo: CE came out, so we were right there in the thick of things when Halo 2 came out. I remember he went to the midnight release of H2, woke me up when he got home at 1am, started up the game…and, maybe it was just my half-awake/half-asleep state, but the opening cutscene with the Covenant blew my mind. The graphics looks incredible compared to HCE, and I was excited about the Covenant being delved into. The game really made a huge impact on me. I didn’t play much multiplayer, though, unless it was co-op campaign or one-on-one versus with my brother.

The midnight launch was something I don’t think we’ll ever see again with a Halo game, unfortunately. This was when Halo was buzzing like crazy. Had to wait outside my local shop called Babbages, I remember. Was a great time to be a Halo fan!

I loved Halo 2, it was a well done game & it wasn’t as lazy as it is today. I remember the good old days of Halo 2.

I started at CE, played it like crazy. Eventually got Halo 2 when it came out, played it like crazy. Never left my house again. Still in my house playing Halo…

I agree. I still organize and setup midnight launch parties for Halo titles just because me and my friends love to do so but the great days where everyone came out and shared in the excitement and hype are definitely over. Halo 6 will probably be our last big Halo launch party. Going to be heading to Denver this time with my life size statues and gear to do a launch party

Just finished H2A legendary solo a week or so ago. Nowhere near a veteran but by god that game was amazing.

never was a veteran or anything in it but i would call myself a glitch veteran in it, dedicated days and weeks on end as a kid playing halo 2 scaling every part of the maps and such searching for glitches and i found hundreds, can get out of every single map many different ways and even found some that was never even on youtube (searched youtube once i finished finding glitches and tried to see if there were any i could say “i own” :stuck_out_tongue: who knows there may still be a few nobody has ever found that i know but i doubt so after all these years.

Halo 2 came out when I was in the 5th grade. I remember going to Blockbuster right after school to see if there were any copies left (Surprisingly, there wern’t), and got so desperate to get my hands on it that I even asked a kid in class the next day if I could borrow his copy for that night in exchange for $10 (Once again, no luck).

Fast forward a few months and I’m going to differnt friends’ houses to play campaign and custom games. The most vivid custom game I remember is a friend and I playing 1v1 on Coagulation but halfway through, the both of us lost interest and would fly around in the banshee. Also, I remember being so amazed that you could use Elites in multiplayer. (My prime “noob” days).

About a year and a half later, I end up moving across the country. About a week or so after I’m settled in, I find out the neighborhood kids also play Halo 2. So, a good three or four of us end up going to one of the kid’s house to play online (He was the only one online at the time). My first experience on Xbox Live was Multi-Team on Warlock. This was like getting my first kiss, it’s something I’ll always remember vividly. My mind was blown that there were actually other people around the world playing in the same match.

About a month or so later, everybody in the neighborhood has Xbox Live and we couldn’t get enough of Halo 2 (I also played NBA LIVE 07 but that’s a different story).

So for over a year, before Halo 3 came out, all the kids from the neighborhood went our own avenues on Halo. The kid whose house we went to ended up being a casual Halo player but stopped playing around the middle of Halo 3. One of the kids ended up being a competitive player, with multiple level 50s on Halo 3 and would go to MLG tournaments (It’s funny, I remember the day he called me on the phone because he was so excitied that he got a level 25 on Team Slayer/Halo 2) and I ended up being a guy who loved to play competitive matchmaking but enjoyed superbouncing, playing custom games (Tower of Power, Zombies, Cat n Mouse, Hide and Seek, etc.), and modded lobbies (Anybody remember the race track on Containment?).

Then, Halo 3 came out and I got introduced to the NBA 2K series. In basketball terms, I put Halo 2 “on the bench.” However, long behold, I got the infamous Red Rings of Death. So, I sent my Xbox 360, set up my original Xbox, and ended up playing on what wound up being my last time on the Halo 2 servers. I played matchmaking with a friend for a good two weeks but since Halo 3 was still in it’s prime (Spring of '09), it didn’t have the same feeling because most people were on Halo 3 or elsewhere.

I remember being so bummed out that the Xbox servers were going to be taken down. But, I was so excited that I could relieve the good days of Halo 2 on MCC. I still play to this day but it’s really tough to find matches on Halo 2 Classic. It looks like MCC is on life support and I’ve lost interest in newer Halo games ever since Halo 4. I play Halo 5 casually with friends who play competitively, so it’s not the best experience. Nevertheless, I’ll be lurking the Halo 2 Classic lobbies on MCC until the game isn’t played anymore.

Long story but hopefully a good read for those interested.

Lol, I didn’t have Halo CE or 2… But here is my story.

Back in 2010, My brother and I would always go to my cousin’s house and one day he wanted us to play halo 3 considering he just got it. When we played it we loved it so much we played every time my brother and I came over. We used to always play on sandtrap and my brother would tell me to get into the elephant but my cousin kept attacking us with the banshee. My cousin did have Halo: Reach so he showed us that too. We both loved it and always went into the forge and created bases and fight each other. My brother and I loved the falcon and we would pick each other up on one and destroy our cousin. Then Halo 4 released in 2012, and once again my cousin played the game with us. We didn’t like it that much as Reach but we did play quite a lot of matchmaking. Then we went back to Reach.

A year later, my brother and I got my very own Xbox 360. Our cousin gave us Halo 3 and Reach and we played the crap out of them. After a while I got all the games exept for Halo 2 and Wars. I wanted Halo 2 but it was for Xbox Original and was incredibly rare. Halo Wars I was not interested in.

Then MCC came!

I wanted it so bad but it was for Xbox One which I didn’t have
One day I did find an article about selling a Xbox 360 with a 500GB for and Xbox One. I told my dad about it and he agreed. The only problem was we only had a 70GB harddrive then my dad lied to them and they didn’t notice (Shh… Don’t tell anyone.)

I came home from School and saw an Xbox One MCC bundle and couldn’t believe it! (btw my brother joined the PC master race :(…) I waited 2 days for MCC to download, but when it was I started up Halo CE anniversary and was shocked… 60fps blew my mind and so did my brothers. A day later it was done downloading loved it blah blah blah…

Then Halo 5 was coming…

The hype train was leaving in an hour and I jumped on and watched Halo Follower and RUL News till Halo 5 released. I preordered it at night (Pure Idiot move) and I fell asleep AND IT WAS NOT DOWNLOADING THE WHOLE NIGHT!!!
I got it blah blah blah…

Ok, you know my story now?!
Good because this took an hour to write

I ¨Played Halo 2 since 2004, and I played until last year, because there is something…This is ‘‘Xlink Kai’’, now it is where all people play halo 2…and Now i play Halo 5: Guardians.
