Halo 2 sticks out like a sore thumb right now

Just played through all the Halo games in chronological order, and I must say that Halo 2 sticks out like a sore thumb. I believe it should be remade.

Halo Wars looks good for a RTS, love the cutscenes.
Halo CE Anniversary looks decent with the improved graphics.
Halo 2 was great looking when it came out, but is now the odd one out.
Halo 3: ODST looks decent.
Halo 3 looks decent as well.

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking this. I’d love to be able to play Halo CE to 3 with the games all looking very similar with achievements too (not massively important but nice to have). Having the whole first trilogy on Xbox 360 would be great!

If this is done, I believe it should be handled the same way Halo CE Anniversary was, with the gameplay left untouched, just touch up the graphics. When it comes to multiplayer, I can’t see them re-releasing Halo 2 multiplayer, probably just maps for Halo 4 or something.

I love Halo 2, but I have something funny to point out… the community always moved onto to the next best thing once what they want is remade.

We wanted Lockout to appear in some form in Halo 3, we got Guardian and we’re pleased for a while but still wanted Lockout.

We got it about a year later

Then our attention turned to something else

We wanted Blood Gulch after that, and got Hemmorage.

Then our attention turned to something else

We wanted Halo CE

We got it.

Now our attention turns to the next best thing, Halo 2.

Not that ‘that’ is a bad thing. I love halo 2. I just find it funny. Halo 2 should be remade, but if it’s not remade around 2014 and will be remade in like 2016, i’m okay with that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Halo 2 is great, but I think the only reason they remade CE is because of the Anniversary. Hense the name. Plus, then they’d have to remake all the other ones.

Halo 2 had the best gameplay in my opinon. I’d just love to see it rereleased with some kind of online compatibility on XBL.

Really? We’re really asking for remakes because older games look older? Is this a thing now. Look, we’re all entitled to out opinion but I think we need to take a step back, look at why certain things were done and why we want certain things done. Halo CEA was a celebration of ten years for the series. If we’re going to start remaking games everytime they look older than the other entries in the series then we’ll end up in an endless loop.

Not at all, this is only because the first two Halo games were released on the original Xbox. Had the trilogy been released in the same generation, people wouldn’t be asking for remakes. I know why Halo CE was remade, and now it has been remade, it makes sense to finish the original trilogy and have them all in HD on the same system.

What do you mean, “all the other ones”? If Halo 2 is remade next year, all the Halo games will be on Xbox 360, all looking more or less the same, I’d like to see that.

Well Halo 2 Vista gave us achievements (I’ve got like ~800/1000), but yes. I think that it should be remade too.

Don’t need halo 2 on the 360. It feels like there will be a new xbox console not too far away, if there were to be a remake of halo 2 I think it should go on that one. But really I don’t think it’s worth it. Halo 2 is fine. Would be much better to just focus on a new/future halo title that can recreate some of the feel/moments that halo 2 brought.

Giving a game an HD coat of paint is no reason to remake it. CEA was made because of the 10th anniversary of Halo as a whole. It wasn’t about the 10th anniversary of Halo: Combat Evolved, but 10 years of the Halo Franchise, in all it’s forms.

Halo 2 had its time, and that time is gone. Maybe for a 20th Anniversary, a Halo 2 remake would work, but anytime before that, absolutely not.

CE was not a gift by the good souls at 343. It was a money making proposition and they used the Anniversary as a tool to make money. If they did it just for the Anniversary sake they would have sold it cheaper, just enough to cover the cost.

One thing is for sure, corporations exist to make money and that is what drives the board meeting. I doubt if anyone at an MS board meeting said “let’s do something for the fans and forget about making money.” Anniversary was and will be for H2 an excuse to cash-in.

That move-on crap doesn’t hold water because if an old game is remade…that is moving on. Once again, H2 is the only Halo game that was designed for Live and not on Live at this time. Once again, H2 will be celebrating 10 years of H2 and 10 years of Live (4 months apart). You said CE was celebrating Halo in all it’s forms and you are dead wrong. The biggest form is Live and CE never had that. You can’t celebrate for something that never happened.

Besides, the Halo 2 10 year anniversary is in 2014, 2 years from now. (sorry about all the numbers)

No the wouldn’t. It’s the only original Xbox Halo that hasn’t been remade. They can stop at Halo 2 because all the Halos will be on the 360. I’d like to see it released next year in 2013 because I’m truly excited to see this game remade if they decide to. Plus, with it just being the original game with graphical touch ups, it wouldn’t get too much in the way of Halo 5 and it would give them an extra year to do Halo 5.

So? 9 years of Halo 2 is just as good as 10. It’s still an anniversary. A 9 year anniversary. It’s fine.

In 2014, in Nov it will be the 10 year mark for H2. So yes, in 2014 we hope to see a 10 year anniversary.

Sure, a 9 year anniversary is fine but a ten year anniversary marks a decade since the game was made. It’s pretty special.

I don’t want a remake, honestly. It’ll feel like a completely different game. I just want the old Halo 2. Sure, the graphics are older, but they’re also unique, and they honestly look great!

But if they came out with it, would you buy it?

The reason for making a H2 remake would be because it’s the only non HD halo. I also heard a rumor about the remake (if there is going to be one) that it will be released with the Xbox 720 in 2014. So it probably won’t be on the 360 so people will be forced to buy the 720 to play it.

I’m going to gracefully avoid the usual pointless and silly bickering associated with Halo 2: Anniversary discussions and simply let everyone know how much the prospect of such an incredible idea excites me!
