Just began replaying through Halo 2’s campaign again and my god the sound design is absolutely amazing… the guns in particular sound so proper. you really feel like you’re packing a punch, especially with the magnum. Hopefully Infinite will feature similar sound design
defo the best sounds of any Halo.
I’m a big fan of it as well
They all sound unique to the universe and within the sandbox. In case you haven’t yet, check out the H2A sounds. To me, they manage to top the classic sounds and are easily the best of the series.

Yeah I’m talking about Halo 2 remastered on MCC if that’s the same as H2A? Sounds are quite rustic and strong, fit’s the art style well. Halo 5 on the other hand just doesn’t have the same kick to it you know?

Yep it’s the same. Thought you were referring to Classic because of the section of Waypoint the post is in. Yeah, agreed, H5’s weapons have too many that sound like generic alien weapons. Not all sound bad of course, but a good chunk for sure.

Oh my bad thought this would be the best place for MCC topic will check again next time. Defo too weak, the sounds don’t suit the design of the weapons either. Halo 4 had some decent sounds in it however which is strange for the downgrade imo.

Interesting you mention Halo 4. Which ones stood out to you? As soon as you mentioned it, the DMR came to mind for me. Its sound design was perfect in 4 and much better than what it was in Reach. It’s not bad by any means in H5, but I’m much more partial to the audio used in Halo 4.

Definitely the assault rifle for me, believe it’s the first or one of the first guns you use in the campaign and it just has a proper angry, loud and bass-y sound. DMR is also very nice in 4 and also 5, tbf it’s a fairly hard sound to get wrong when it’s only a semi-automatic.

AR’s one that sticks out to me as well. It sounds a little muted in Halo 5 and sounds like a toy when listening to another player using it.
The classic Halo games had a very distinct sound design, but it always sounded a lot like a game. Halo Reach brought more realism and strength to it. I loved it. In Halo 4 everything sounded very present and, again, realistic. But not Halo-like anymore. In Halo 5 it sounded like a game again, but not like Halo. It didn’t have any of the two. It sucked. Now, CEA and 2A continued with what Reach did, and have the best sound design IMAO.It sounds like a more gritty and powerful version of Halo.
