Halo 2 scarab prefabs.

Hey there! Looking for any halo 2 scarab prefabs? Well I happen to have 3 versions that I show in This video two of them were made by me. The last was made by a guy called BarnDarn.

Oh, so that’s what you sound like.

In all honesty, they look good but something feels off with them. I will be addressing YOUR Scarabs because I’m talking to you and not the other dude. I will also be addressing only the built up Scarab and not the destroyed version, because I like how the destroyed one looks as is. With that in mind, just bear with me and don’t get triggered.

  • The Scarab in Halo 2 was tall, and I mean TALL. It was taller than the one in Halo 3. This one doesn’t really get the height right, but this is more of a nitpick than anything else. - The legs seem to be spread too far apart. In the original thing, they were right next to each other in the mid-section of the tank. This one seems to be on either end of the thing. - The cannon is EXTREMELY flat. The Halo 2 Scarab’s cannon extended out from it’s body, giving it a prominent look. Here, it’s just a light with 4 rectangles around it. Granted, Forge isn’t able to replicate the thing exactly, but making the cannon stick out a bit could help the overall aesthetic look of it. - AA turrets look fine, no complaint there. - The middle chassis to me kinda looks like a box, no offense. In the original design, which you stated these prefabs were based on, you can see that the back of the Scarab kinda raises up to the base of the AA cannon (I couldn’t find a good picture of the back of the original, that’s why an Anniversary pic is shown. Same vehicle geometry, different textures and color). I’ve seen this a lot on other Scarab builds and it kinda irks me to see it again here. - Add in some more aesthetics! I know you can’t change the color, but I would suggest you put in some more green lights under the middle area to add in more of that alien feel, or you could even add in some floodlights for a search mode aesthetic. Hell, the original one had it, why can’t this one? Those are just some suggestions that I would recommend. Add these if you wish. Again, it looks cool, and maybe I can add it in if I ever feel like crushing some klakas in a big city map or something.

Thanks for the criticism. I’ll update the scarab when I have the time, the images of the original you showed are the ones I looked at for reference.

Based on you feedback I’ve updated my scarabs!

Ok, what do we have here?
From what I’ve seen, Scarab 2.0 is VASTLY better than Scarab 1.0. I love the addition of those aesthetics and even the purple color for the interior. The cannon looks MUCH better, and now it sticks out a lot more and looks great while doing it. Leg joints are in their proper positions. Overall, well done. I do have some more criticisms, though.

First off, when I said make the Scarab taller, I didn’t necessarily mean “make the legs straight”. I meant make the legs a bit larger and bulkier so it can give the central chassis a bit more height to it. I wasn’t that clear when I first said that, so it’s on me. I’m not sure how you would approach doing this, but it’s your design. Secondly, the back. Please direct your attention to this image. The problem with the back of the Scarab now is that the back is supposed to raise up almost to a sort of 90 degree angle and then join into a platform where the cannon is. Here, it sort of looks like it’s just there to cover up the back wall. I feel that fixing the extending stern of the Scarab could give it more prominence to it’s design just like the fixed cannon did.

Welp, there’s my thoughts on Halo 2 Scarab…2. Take them how you will.

Yeah the back was kinda a pain to do. Originally I had it look all connected to look normal but the ring models hate me.
