Halo 2 scarab crash

I’m curious if anyone has had this problem or its just me but I been playing halo 2 with the scarab skull on just messing around and all that but I’m on the mission gravemind and its after the elites come though the door but when I shoot my weapon my game just freezes and I have to restart my pc and it keeps happening and I figured I try to see if on my console it does the same thing and of course it does. I already submit a ticket to the support page but I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem before.

I have had the problem as well. It most notably happens when wielding a plasma rifle.

That’s been a bug for a long time.

About a year ago when I last used scarab skull it did that, one of those bugs that’s been around for ages

I also had it a long time ago as well.

The scarab gun is just unstable. The engine is incredibly fragile, and probably wasn’t built to handle the scarab gun in so many situations. Also, pro tip, if you crash so hard that you have to restart your computer, instead hit the keys Win+Tab, create a new desktop, and in that new desktop you’re free to open task manager and properly shut down the MCC app, then you can go back to your old desktop and continue business as normal.

This is news to me, I have never experienced this. Hopefully they will fix this at some point!

I’m probably wasting my time here considering how old this forum+bug are, but from testing it myself I’ve concluded there must be an error with only the left-handed projectile, as the game doesn’t crash until specifically a beam fired from a plasma rifle in the left hand collides with anything. My guess is it was overlooked as the QA was probably more focused on other things, and typically you wouldn’t need a second scarab beam. It might be something to do with how the game handles the projectile, swapping each one for a plasma rifle round and then emitting the beam on firing and then the explosion on impact. It’s probably confusing the game in the case of a scarab PR shot in the left hand, swapping the projectile and spawning the explosion infinitely on every frame.
