Halo 2 - Probably a dumb question

So I’ve never bothered to play any of the campains in Halo. I recently decided I wanted to change that and just finished Halo 1, and started Halo 2. My question is this:

In the opening cinematic with Thel vadamee, why when asked does Thel say that he called Master chief an ally & even friend? I can’t seem to figure out when this happened (I’m assuming in halo 1?), then later the prophets say he is a traitor because he didn’t stop “the demon”, and Thel says it’s become he didn’t know his intent until it was too late?

I’ve tried looking this up online and all I end up finding are transcripts.

I just realized he is called arbitor in that scene… in that scene supposed to be a look into the future? Then they cut back to his public shaming and being named arbitor?

I think I Just read this cutscene was a glimpsie into Halo 5, please correct me if I am wrong.

Yep this is correct. It was added to the start of H2A as a tease to Halo 5.

That scene and the epilogue takes place after Halo 4. It was added in Halo 2 Anniversary to build more hype for Halo 5.

They become friends in Halo 3.

That’s a cut scene for halo 5. They become cool in halo 3
