Hey guys,
I’ve been trying to get my Halo 2 copy to run, it launches fine entered my key but when it wants to update the game just quits, I can see a window for a short time and I think it says that the update was successful but when I try to restart it wants to update again!
That’s why I play console.

What OS are you running? How old or new is your computer?-
I have it on Xbox but MP is offline so I want to play it on PC again!
Well trying it on Win7 64Bit, PC is good enough let’s just say it can run Battlefield 3
Compatibility Mode and Run as Admin won’t work.

That is weird. I have an almost identical computer that runs Halo 2 Vista just fine.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling at all? Or googling the problem? Sadly, that’s about all the advice I can give.
have you tried forwarding ports on your router 88 UDP 3074 TCP/UDP or you could just disable your firewall while you play on windows games.
If it wants to update repeatedly, try…updating repeatedly. It’s an older game, there have been multiple updates since the original release. If it doesn’t work after ~10 updates, then you’ve probably got a problem.
I recommend manually downloading the updates. They are available over at HaloMaps.org. Once you’re fully updated, make sure you download the latest version of GfW-Live as well.

Hey something like this is happening to me but it keeps saying i cannot download and i have no idea of what to do… Please help!
Try uninstalling games for windows live, then install the newest one.
Also update H2 manually.
I know it’s been said already, but that’s what worked for me. I used this link.

I tried updating it on the computer but not on the game then its says update check complte then said im not conected to the internet but i am. Uninstalling it won’t might not work since the problem isn’t the game i think but live. Is this something to do with bungie not owning halo any more?

ok Im gonna try doing this i have the file now… what do i do with it?
If it’s an .exe, run it.
If it’s another sort of file, find the Halo 2 install directory, and paste that into the corresponding folders. Usually file downloads come with readmes, or directions on the website.
I know It’s been A while, but um having the exact same problem. DId you ever it to work?
