Many people in the Achievement Hunting community for YEARS have been trying to find ways of unlocking the Halo 2 Vista Multiplayer Achivements, the people who did have done so and managed to mod the game to unlock them via LAN play been penalised by sites like TrueAchievements for doing so.
I know this is practically non existant on the priorites list with Infinite coming and MCC being such a success now, but it would be nice if it was possible to be able to update the achievement requirements for Halo 2 PC to be able to be accomplished in LAN or Local play.
you can. All of the Halo 2 for vista matchmaking achievements can be gained in custom games, so even though the matchmaking was turned off you can still get the achievements legitimately by playing custom games to unlock them.
As of right now, Halo 2 for PC still connects to Xbox live so you could load up the game right now, complete the campaign achievements, complete the custom games ones, and unlock every achievement in that game. I know because I did it myself and have helped many people do this as well.
The only hitch is if you are trying to do everything by yourself you will need to load up 4 different profiles on your Halo 2 Vista for PC to trick the game into thinking there are 4 people in your custom match since many matchmaking/custom game achievements are things such as double kills, steal a vehicle, etc. The only way to do this by urself is to use a cheat engine but you are not breaking the game to unlock the achievements, your simply adding in 3 extra profiles for which you have to still do everything that is required to unlock that achievement. This is actually harder than doing it with for friends AS YOU COULD DO WHEN VISTA WAS POPULAR, because you have to control 4 profiles at the same time.

There’s no way to unlock the achievement legit anymore so you would be banned on trueachievements for doing this

That’s right, I try that, and I get banned with a secondary account, for that reason, there’s no way to unlock that.
