Hi,
I bought my laptop last year and installed Halo 2 PC without any problem. The game was running in full details perfectly. Yesterday Id like to play it again but theres some creepy textures twinkling on some things (like Master Chief and Elites armor, I can see this glitch even at the main menu all over the ship and installation) and the game keeps lagging. The only thing I changed since my first game was download latest drivers of my graphic card and updated Windows 8 to 8.1. I succeeded to remove some drivers from my computer (didnt know how ..) and it worked ! BUT today when I woke up and re launched Halo 2, same problem .. I searched everywhere on the internet and I couldnt find anything.
I really need help, I don’t understand what could alter the graphics, because it was running perfectly last year …
I havent used windows 8, but maybe try it with compatibility mode (Vista) if you havent already. If you can try re-installing it now that you have updated. Im sure that will fix it.
This has been happening to me recently too… I thought my GPU was crapping out and I use Win 7 lol
The same thing happened to me. My laptop runs on Windows 8 and, like you, Halo 2 had been working fine until recently. Will try uninstalling/reinstalling.
Reinstalling didn’t fix it. Might be something with my laptop? Not sure.
Got the exact same issue. I’ve tried playing with the AA, AF, refresh rate, compatibility mode, window/fullscreen and I still get the issue.
I’m on a desktop with a Geforce 660 ti GPU with the latest drivers. What are your GPUs?
Dual 760’s in SLI for me.
Reported to NVIDIA they say they may implement in a newer driver release.
Still occurring in the recently released 335.23 drivers.
I suggest you raise as an issue as well: http://nvidia-submit.custhelp.com/app/ask
I am having the same issue. This could have something to do with a recent graphic card update. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, and the current driver I have for it is GeForce 335.23. Also to note, a new update for Game for Windows Live went up, does anyone know what this update did?
I am having this issue too. It must be a driver thing; hopefully nvidia will get a fix on that eventually.
Simply turn on v-sync and it will solve the problem.
you are getting too much fps.
I have a gtx660 and it did the same thing.
V-sync did nothing for me.
This isn’t the v-sync issue. With v-sync off, the scene on the title screen with the Covenant carrier over New Mombasa will run faster than it’s supposed to and jump around randomly. I had that turned on and was running fine on my Win8.1/GeForce 660M machine until I recently upgraded to the 335.23 driver. Now the scene runs at normal speed, but the lighting effects on the textures flash around and the object geometry is sometimes visible underneath them. I’m still playing with graphics and compatibility settings, but I’m pretty sure this is a driver issue.
I made a Halo 2 topic on the Nvidia forum: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/720939/pc-games/halo-2-flickering-on-nvidia-cards/
Feel free to support the topic. If enough users talk about it Nvidia may fix it.
same issue, any reflective surfaces bug out
win 8.1, gtx 660, i7, 64 bit
reported the bug to nvidia
#140429-000384
NVIDIA recently updated my support call with them, as far as I understand they have identified the bug that they fixed in the prior drivers and should be reintroducing the fix into upcoming drivers.
Keep an eye out for new drivers and then test.
Mirroring my post in the other thread:
Hello all,
NVIDIA have released a new driver (337.81).
I have tested this myself and the issue is resolved!
Download and test for yourselves:
Download from Guru3d
Looks like our reports/forum posts to NVIDIA were successful!
I have a Samsung laptop, windows 8.1 pro, Intel Core i7-3635QM CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40GHz processor, 8GB RAM, 64-bit OS, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA cannot find compatible graphics hardware. Is there any other solution that could fix this issue? I check the drivers and no problems were found.

Interesting… This is the exact same problem I’ve had for some time now, ever since I updated my Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop to Windows 8.1. I had no idea if anyone else had experienced this problem, so it’s nice to see that I’m not alone.
It’s not a game-breaking glitch, but it’s still annoying. Since my PC doesn’t have Nvidia graphics hardware, are there any other fixes anyone knows about?
By the way, I actually started a thread on this topic a few months ago in the bugs section of the Waypoint forums, and it promptly got locked on the grounds that it was a driver/hardware issue, not a Halo discussion. Go figure…
This problem is still around for me.
It seems to be an FPS bug of some sort, if you lock your fps to 60 it happens less often tho.

Please don’t revive old topics thanks, especially ones that are over 4 years old. You can create a new thread in the appropriate support forum if you’d like.
