Is there anyway to purchase a digital copy of halo 2 for the Xbox 360?

To answer your question - No, Halo 2 is not available for digital purchase on the Xbox 360 store. However, you can purchase the original Halo Combat Evolved under the Xbox Originals section from the marketplace.
Regarding the Xbox One, there is no digital copy of Halo 2 available through the Xbox One store since Halo 2 is currently not backwards compatible but hopefully it will be in the future.

OG Halo 2 only works on 360.

Thanks I was just confused about halo CE being there but not halo but thanks for the clairefication.
Only CE can be bought digitally, but Halo 2 isn’t possible. Unless you have a physical disc (which you probably don’t due to the existence of this thread) or have MCC you’re out of luck.
Technically you can buy a digital copy of MCC which contains Halo 2. Does that count?
The original X-Box version of Halo 2 is playable on the 360, as is HCE, even without X-Box Live. As far as I’m aware, those were the only two games that were backwards compatible without XBL, likely due to Halo being the flagship title for the X-Box brand in the first place. Not sure about X-Box One, but that’s what the MCC is for… technically.

No if you want to play halo 2 on your 360 you’ll need a physical copy
