Well, you can but it takes to much time.
It should work.
I believe the CD key is only required to play online matchmaking (not sure about offline customs though, but the campaign is playable). But be advised, I read in an Amazon review that a guy bought Halo 2 Vista brand new and couldn’t use the key. It kept saying it was invalid, so he contacted Microsoft customer support. They told him that unused CD keys no longer worked because Halo 2 was no longer supported (since October 9th 2012) due to Games for Windows Live shutting down July 2014. This was the same for numerous other reviews that all said similar things.
You should get the game and when you have any issues or want some help with your video project, go to http://www.halo2vista.com there is some apps that will make the project go a bit smoother like flycam, still cam, no hud etc lol
