Halo 2 Mission 'Regret' Map

Hey guys,

Ive been reading on the forums for someone asking for underwater gameplay and i thought about a good map for Halo 4.

Im not sure if im talking about the right mission, but it is the one where we have to kill regret, and to get to him we had to go down 2 lifts which go underwater.

While i was down the lift i was increadibly amazed, so i am wondering what if we have a entire map with the same ‘feel’ of it that we had during that mission?

A entire underwater building with most of it made of transparent objects to see past.

what do you guys think?

Obviouosly i explained in the most little detail but im sure you guys get what i mean.

Edit: For those who dont know what mission im talking about. Mission Regret

That could be an epic sight. Though, I see myself in an Infinity Slayer match stopping dead in my tracks to watch the fishies.

An underwater map would be stupid. You can’t see very well underwater in Forge World now, so having a map based underwater would not work. As for the map that was suggested, I don’t remember it too well but I don’t think Halo needs nor wants another symmetrical map.

I want to say so many things right now, but so few aren’t mean.

Uh… well… read the OP again.

He said an underwater building with glass/some other transparent material to see into the water through. Visibility wouldn’t be a problem.

Would be a challenge to make, but if made correctly im sure it could turn out to be fun.

I would love to see a Campaign mission where you have to go underwater in some sections. But I don’t think it would fit into a Multiplayer map.

Yea man that’s a freakin great idea!! I was just thinking something along those lines the other day too. What I had in my mind was this scene in Halo 2

Now with the way better graphics it can easily become one of my favorite maps. It would also be epic if they added like wild life outside the walls in the sea that you can see swim by… awww man I’m just getting my hopes up now lol

EXACTLY what i was thinking. Thanks man

I made a map like that in Forge World once. It didn’t turn out too fantastic, but the concept is still there.

No problem bro lol Hopefully we get to see a map like this

Like Bioshock? Sure, why not.

How about we take this idea a step further though and make it so that players can shoot the glass and flood certain rooms w/ water, cutting off access ways, and thus altering the flow of the map which could be used competitively to a team’s advantage. As soon as a room floods then a blast door will close and cut off that area of the map. You can also use this as a unique way to get kills by trapping players inside.

I was thinking the same thing when I read this.

That would be cool. Though I could see trolls just shooting all the glass they see as soon as the game begins.

Yea man that sounds pretty crazy but too many trolls would take advantage of that. would be an awesome gametype tho

It would have to be pretty durable glass that can take a ton of hits before it actually breaks so if a bunch of trolls just stand there and start shooting it then eventually someone will come up to them and get the kill. Not to mention, they’ll be wasting ammo.

Gears of War idea:

Anyone know the Thrashball map? How the big scoreboard thingy’s wires can be shot to drop it after whatever amount of time?

Maybe some massive fish or something can slam into the glass after like four-five minutes and crack it, rendering it destructible. It could otherwise be too strong to be shot and broken. Could also be like the structure is old and is failing due to consistent water pressure. As the game progresses, cracks slowly form until a point where it’s completely screwed up and then can be shot or it automatically breaks after seven minutes. If the game times out, the structure collapses and the whole thing can flood. Woop. Got carried away. >_>

This could work as well. Having it be scripted on a timer would probably be the safer way to do things, but I find those kinds of map to be too repetitive b/c I always know when it’s going to happen.

I understand what you mean. Perhaps…

1-3 minutes, glass can’t be broken.
4-6 minutes, cracks form
6-9 minutes, glass can be broken by players
After 9 minutes, glass breaks automatically
At the end, if game times out, assuming 10 minute game, the whole building falls apart.

Invoked by Red, did you play Halo 2’s campaign, and did you read OP? clearly you did not.
