Right firstly I can’t confirm this is true unless 343i say’s something but officially it seem’s steam has been testing halo 1/2/3, there saying steam will possibly be selling halo 1/2/3 soon here.
I noticed a lot of threads about halo 2 losing the pc servers but if steam re-releases the game then maybe the servers might get moved, well more people would buy to play.
The problem with halo 2 vista is it implied that only people with vista could play it, well ‘games for windows’ website/app stopped a while back so they could turn to windows 8 store. The only problem with that is the windows 8 store seems more focused on basic apps instead of games which is probably why halo 2/3 is maybe porting to steam which is why there trying to remove the servers on ‘games for windows’.
My theory is this might be a hd collection trilogy for the new xbox, pc but that’s just theory.
Edit: Further news Halo 2 vista servers saved until June 2013, link here.
Edit 2: It’s official the halo 2 vista website is now officially down.

Exactly link the quote from BS Angel or it didn’t happen.
Anyway just got latest update here stating the halo 2 servers are being ‘extended’ till June since they said “Halo 2 PC support extended through June 2013 while we investigate further support options”.
This may mean there now considering it since steam is the only possible option at the moment due the future removal of the ‘games for windows’ servers.

There is an Official Steam Group and Game Hub for Halo 3. Both of those things have to be implemented by Valve and can’t be created by users. Sometimes games go onto Steam for weeks before they even get a Steam forum section, or an Official group. I’d say 343i is just denying until an official announcement is approved and Valve just let the cat out of the bag.

Exactly it’s not the first time Microsoft/343i have denyed information then done the exact opposite… An example of many here
Also they said they ‘were’ not making halo 2 back last year because they were focusing on halo 4 here. They pretty much said the same thing when reach came out about halo 1.
What people need to understand is Gabe is sort of supporting the ps3 because it’s using ‘steam’ but he still hates consoles, loves gaming as much as everyone else so it would make sense for him to want to port more games to pc because he’s a pc gamer, it would be ashame for console haters to miss out on classic’s. (Played all of them including the pc ports)
I STILL OWN MY COPY! I would buy a version if the kept the glitches like BXR, superbounces, butterflying, campaign and multiplayer with the old ranking structure the same with the Halo 4 attention to detail in facial expressions, lip movement and movements and scenery. It still is. My friends and I still have Halo 2 LAN parties. 23 year old men still having Halo 2 LAN parties and our wives and girlfriends join in because they played online with us in high school. Halo 2 even now brings people together. Glitches and all. That’s what made it interesting. If you didn’t know the glitches, you learned them to even the playing field. That made Multiplayer a challenge. I can own people straight up, so why not pwn them at their own game. Plus it blew your friends’ minds when you had something to show them outside the map. It gave Halo 2 almost a MATRIX feel. Does anyone smell what I’m steppin in here? I just want to play again in a ranked matchmaking system that makes me actually work for my skill level instead of this morphed COD system they have. Plus, I miss the H2 Headlong. I killed it on there. And the old, dark and snowy Lockout with the “Ghost of Lockout”. My God! Halo 2 was amazing. I’m getting goosebumps. GOOSEBUMPS! I’ve said my piece I suppose. 343, take my post to heart. Think on it at least. I love you for making such an amazing HALO 4, but can you please take us back to our roots? I will cry and jump for joy in adoration of you people if you just grant me this one wish. Maybe ask Bungie and Microsoft for their blessings? I love Halo 4 and fully trust you with this task. I’ll stand behind you. . . if that means anything to you.

I’d be careful about saying hates consoles when considering that Valve is clearly trying to get into the realm of living room TV gaming with their “Big Picture” mode on Steam now aswell as their plans of developing the Steambox as a form of Home Console.
Sure he hates Windows 8 thats why Steam for Linux (Though it only supports Ubuntu) just released and why the Steambox is supposedly going to run on Linux. And he is certainly not a fan of the restraints that consoles lock developers into for years on end, which effects the PC gamers aswell, but I find thats the real extent of it. Thats what he really hates. He has nothing against Couch Commander stytle gaming with a controller versus Mouse and Keyboard.
