Are Xbox Live servers still playable with Halo 2 or are they still down
The Xbox Halo 2 servers were shut down over 9 years ago. The launch of the Master Chief Collection was used as an excuse to shut down the Halo 2 for Vista servers in July 2015.

The first part is correct, the 2nd part is false. Vista servers were going to be shut down at the beginning of 2013. The community convinced 343 to keep them up, which they did for another 2 years. It didn’t have anything to do with MCC’s release.
