Halo 2 Legendary Campaign

Why do the people say that the halo 2 campaign is the most difficult?

Pin-point accurate, quick as all hell Jackal snipers… must I say more?

Are you asking about why it was designed to be the most difficult?

Or are you asking what about the campaign makes it most difficult?

I personally still think Halo 2’s difficulty is overstated. CE was the most difficult for me.

I agree with you there, but only on certain missions. On legendary the mission Truth & Reconciliation is a pain in the yoink. Same with Assault on the Control Room. But at least you had health in CE. But in 2 your shields are paper and you have no health.

You have less health than a marine. Makes you feel really useless.

I guess overall Halo 2 has the hardest campaign although for me the hardest level in the Halo franchise is Truth and Reconciliation from CE.

HATED That level. I was stuck for days. Regret and Gravemind on Halo 2 are tough.

After that underwater section and the boss fight, I will never replay regret again.

Simply for a few reasons.

  1. You’re the most weakest entity in the entire game with the exception of the Flood Infection Forms. While in Halo CE you could withstand about 4+ plasma rifle shots which are fired slower (also depends on how much health you have), on Halo 2 you die to 5 plasma rifle shots which can be fired within a second. Also melee kills you instantly in most scenarios
  2. Enemies are drastically stronger than they were in Halo CE. Jackal snipers, Elite Ultras, Flood Combat Forms, hell even the standard grunt could absorb a lot of damage if you didn’t headshot them.
  3. Bad level design on a bunch of the missions. Notably the Gravemind council chamber, most of Uprising, Metropolis (This Town ain’t big enough for the both of us), Delta Halo (Off the rocks, through the bush, nothing but jackal), and so many more encounters are a grindfest on Halo 2.

There’s just a lot of BS difficulty spikes in Halo 2 that other games didn’t have. For example, Halo 2 has 3 different boss battles that are nothing more than bullet sponges with an unreasonable high guard escort. While it is true that Halo 5 has the same thing with the Warden Eternal, his attacks are much more easier to anticipate and most of the time his arenas are areas with decent cover and power weapons while Halo 2’s had neither, save for Tartarus and mayybe Regret, but definitely not Sesa.

Also, something I want to point out that some people may have forgotten about. Now, this may be a completely made up claim or some sort of placebo effect, I dunno, but I swear I have had this happen to me multiple times. When you die enough times in Halo 2, your checkpoint gets reset to the previous one before your most recent one. This means that if you die enough, which is practically a given on Legendary for any game, really, your checkpoint might go back to an area you just barely managed to clear out that was inccredibly difficult to do in the first place, and now you have to do it again. An example of this is someone somehow dying repeatedly to the Honor Guards in the last room of Delta Halo and then having their checkpoint reset to some point during the Jackal Forest, and nobody wants to go back there.

I will give CE props for having a lot of BS levels in its Campaign. Truth and Reconciliation can be an -Yoink- on co-op along with sections of Two Betrayals and Halo to an extent. The problem with that is that CE didn’t have BS mechanics like Halo 2 did, and those mechanics transfer to most, if not all levels in the game, making it harder to contend with.

That’s just my opinion, though.

Hope your joking,no way truth and reconciliation is harder than regret or gravemind

It is the hardest game becuase of these simple reasons.

  • Youre weaker then a marine - one hit Melee kills. - Super accurate inhuman Sniper Jackals - little to no cover on some missions. - The TTK is probably the fastest in all the Halo games.

I hate so much H2s jackal snipers

The specific mechanic is that if you die five times in a row in the same checkpoint in which you died within five seconds of each death, then the game will revert you to your second last checkpoint. It does help against bad checkpoint placements like jackal sniper sections and other bs areas.

That’s why it’s called Regret because it’s how you feel after playing it.

Ha. It was for me! I was stuck on Truth and Reconciliation for absolutely ages when you enter the enemy ship.

Regret was okay for me. The final boss was a pain but thankfully there were checkpoints regularly. Gravemind for me is probably the 2nd hardest level to complete. It’s all constant pain.
