I’m planning on doing a halo 2 laso because I want to complete every achievement in the game before halo infinite launches so might as well get the hardest out of the way first so any tips or tricks? guides? anything I should know before I start on this hellish journey
Check out HaloCompletionist on YouTube. Excellent guides and excellent commentary.

His videos are by far the best guides out there especially for those new to the experience, there really is no close second imo. HC sticks to the reliable strats and when possible he avoids the overly flashy tricks that take a real long time to master, also he’s gotta pretty good mic/voice which helps a ton; Gravemind has been made so much more tolerable than it used to be solely thanks to his video putting all the best tricks into one place. First time I beat H2 LASO it took me nearly a year, when I completed it again recently for MCC china I was able to knock it out in 3 weeks and HC and the community on his discord is a big part of that (BTW check that place out as well, very much worth it.)
If you have never done a LASO before I highly recommend you watch each video at least twice, once as a warm up of what to expect next, and once again as you are playing to follow along with were you are. Keep in Mind that RNG and luck factor in H2 is pretty high so due to unfortunate circumstance you may find your way of the beaten path, Id just try searching for the specific scene you are stuck at and pick/choose from what you can find online in order to adapt the stat, or of course you can just restart and try again which is sometimes easier.
Good luck my friend, LASO is not normally for the faint of heart, but H2 LASO is straight up cruel. Remember the most important advice above all: Take Stress breaks when needed! it may sound silly but if you are hitting your head against the wall you need to take a step back because your frustration will only continue to compound as you waste time with increasingly sloppy/risky actions, even a 15 minute reset can work wonders on the mind.

Soooooo…you sure you don’t want to walk across hot coals barefooted while carrying 3 aquarium tanks full of water? Because honestly that would be less stressful and more pleasant.
There is already some good advice here so I’ll just throw in this little bit. I took a small piece of paper the size of the sniper reticle and colored it red, then put it over the in game reticle since you won’t have one in laso.
Good luck! If you can finish Halo 2, the others aren’t bad at all.
“So you have chosen death”
Make sure you complete a mission before an update rolls around. If you don’t, your progress in the mission will get reset, meaning you will have to start it over. I had Two Betrayals resetted because of that. Also make sure you select the individual LASO playlist under each game. Otherwise you won’t get the achievement. If you do this on Co-op, make sure you and your partner start the first two missions solo, i.e The Heretic and The Armory, to ensure you both get the achievement. Those do not support co-op apparently. Keep that in mind for Reach as well.
I will only add that you will need A LOT of patience. And I mean it. LASO is not something the average joe can take on and chill, no no. Good luck with H2, I hope you will succeed. I gave up halfway through Cairo Station. I simply did not have the patience to drag Johnson around. I get its supposed to be an insane challenge but I honestly hate having to rely on the AI this much.
Also, CE is not that bad, I think it was quite fun for the most part, but let me tell you that T&R was an absolute hell. After you do H2, you might wanna do CE.

Even if you plan on doing it with a guide you’re still gonna go through one of the most mentally deteriorating things known to man.

Also, you know the save and quit trick right? It should be common knowledge, but I’ll put it here just in case. Every time you die, you are supposed to restart the mission due to the Iron skull. You can get around that by saving and quitting after dying. That way you will restart at your last checkpoint instead. I know its a hassle, but its still better than having to restart over.
To me the Iron skull is the worst skull they could ever conceive. On its own it isn’t a problem, but it becomes intolerable when combined with all the others. Its literally the only skull that kept me away from trying LASO for a long time. So, do not feel like you are cheesing it by saving and quitting, I guarantee you that 99% of us did it that way anyway. Be prepared to see a lot of loading screens.
If you save and quit fast enough when you die you won’t have to restart the whole mission. Probably the most important thing. (assuming you’re playing solo)
Still stuck on Gravemind, H2 LASO is all I need to get 100% but doing it solo is too much of a headache for me

At least you do not have to drag Johnson around like in Cairo. That alone was so mentally exhausting to me my brain committed death. I wish we could have Envy on as well. Would save a lot of trouble.

Yeah I quit Cairo like 2 times before I actually got it done lol. Johnson was making me pull my hair out at the space parts

First time my buddy and I got to the space section Johnson fell off it was funny but not funny at the same time. It took about 4 hours for us to do cairo. As annoying as cairo was that was nothing compared to gravemind. Gravemind was around 7 hours. If you can LASO gravemind, you can LASO any mission. The whole H2 playlist took us about 25 hours literally almost half of that was those two missions.

yea im playing solo
Strongly recommend you attempt with a friend. SLASO can be damaging for mental health.

disagree, as long as you follow guides for soloing, it’s way better then having to worry about two lives than one.
