halo 2 invalid key problem

I just received my halo 2 today and i installed it and my product key worked fine. I wanted to play live and it asked for my key again and it now says my key is invalid.
What do i do to fix this?

You could use a key gen for Halo 2, or you could ask to use someone else’s code. I’m not sure if it’ll bring their code to be used/invalid too. You could also call support, it should be somewhere on the case/booklet/whatever.

You can not use a keygen, because it’s illegal. And using a friend’s would not do you any good due to the fact that the key is binded to your Live profile when you register the game.

If OP’s copy is legit, he can contact support and they can possibly send him a new key. I would try re-installing before doing so.

It is true that a microsoft employee only helps if they want to help.

I called 5 times and ms support helped me on my 5th call I wasn’t going to quit if I bought it new.

The first employee got all my information and just said they dont support halo 2 no more

The next 3 times they got my info and transferred me a couple of times just to tell me they cant help

On my last call they got my info and transferred me to another guy and he helped me. He connected to my PC and helped me step by step and then called another tech and she gave me a new key. im guessing they checked on my PC that I didn’t have it illegally.

So I guess they only help you if they want to help you

That’s how it goes apparently and consider yourself lucky. I had the exact same issue as you and many, many others as well. I bought my copy in August and at the advice of online chat support called them to get a new key. They continually told me, for weeks, that they didn’t have the power to reset or give me a new key. I kept calling the main support line and talking to online chat support and they kept saying all I need is a new key. They were totally cool about it, but once I got to where I needed to be they started telling me repeatedly that they just dont have that kind of power, even though a lot of people like yourself have said that they had done it for them. About a week and a half ago I was told that they had stopped supporting Halo 2 two days prior and that my only option was to get help from the answers community, which can do nothing for me because its a community of users, who actually don’t have that power.

It was really frustrating but hey… I’ve got a cool paper weight with an epic picture of Chief on it! plus Halo 4’s coming out in 15 days and I’m excited as hell to see where it takes us.
