Hello.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but it appears that there are several incomplete or unfinished maps in Halo 2: Anniversary that come up frequently in matchmaking. These appear to be completely new maps that were made for Halo 2: Anniversary but just never completed. Halo 2: Anniversary is really a beautiful remaster but when one of these maps comes up in matchmaking, it’s like stepping into an Alpha test of an unfinished game. I don’t understand why maps like these exist in the matchmaking rotation. It seems pretty obvious that they are unfinished. They appear functional, but aesthetically they are clearly in the prototype stage of development. Many of these maps have textures that are lower quality than the Classic Halo 2 levels, and much much lower quality than the remastered halo 2 levels. They exist in stark contrast to the beautifully remastered Anniversary levels.
My question to the devs is, will these maps ever be completed? I understand that Halo 2 is technically a legacy game and as such probably not a top priority. But if these maps will never be fully completed, maybe it would be better to remove them from the matchmaking rotation? I feel as though these maps reflect poorly on the capabilities of the development team(which are clearly very high, as showcased in so many other aspects.)
I want to make clear that I don’t mean any disrespect by pointing this out. I’m sure that these maps were intended to be much more polished and only ended up in this state due to uncontrollable time restraints on development. However, I think it is worth pointing out how obvious it is that these maps are incomplete. Halo 2 players deserve better. I really believe the game would exist in a better state if these maps were just outright removed. It would be absolutely amazing if these maps were updated and finished! Either way I hope this message is well received.
