It is skipped if you’r playing co-op apparently (searched it up since I wasn’t sure).

Might be a bug, If you haven’t, reset the console, and if that doesn’t work, it may be something in the games’ files or code.

I also read that it is skipped if your playing with other people online, but when I played it (on the 360, I have Halo 2 for original xbox) it never gets skipped, so it may just be a MCC thing, since I did read some people had the Halo 5 cinematic play instead of the Heretic Custscene.

I think the cutscene is in the extras video section now. It would make sense to do that since it was just a promotional vid for H5.

If this is case the now, honestly a change for the better. The cutscene with Locke makes 0 sense especially in the context of Halo 5. New players jumping into the story won’t know what the hell is going on. Moving it to extras is for the best.

I wonder when this change happened - maybe when Halo 2 was added to PC? I know as the games were being added to PC, if the game had video Terminals, they were being added to the actual game’s files instead of the Halo Channel, and so could be accessed via the Extras menu as well.

That is when I would assume these Halo 2 cutscenes for Halo 5 were removed from the normal game but kept in the Extras menu.

Edit: The H2A remake of Another Day at the Beach is also in the Extras menu! I had no idea it was added to the actual game. I had only ever seen it online in the lead up to MCC as a promotional video for Blur’s cutscenes.

I think it was removed on purpose, it doesn’t really bother me as Halo 5’s story re-written and that cutscene made no sense afterwards

The change was made with the release of Season 8. The cutscene still played on PC up until they fixed H2’s classic graphics.

I appreciate the clarification!

That makes much more sense. I really enjoy knowing when all these little things were implemented in the life cycle of MCC.

Now that you mention it I know you’re right - because I recall some PC users speaking to how confusing those Halo 5 cutscenes were given they couldn’t play Halo 5 on PC. I didn’t think anything would change so I’m happy to see 343i took the initiative on that feedback!

I’m happy to hear that this scene was finally removed. Many fans have asked for it to be removed for years, for these reasons.

It’s not a Halo 2 cutscene
It’s a commercial
It contains massive spoilers
It’s not even canon, the real scene in Halo 5 turned out to be different

343 needs to delete those crappy cutscenes from Halo 2; they’re worthless even being there. I don’t want to be reminded that the game exists.

I see you haven’t been paying attention to the conversation.

Thanks for the info, I was on solo. I never really saw the point in having it in Halo 2 campaign anyway, Just don’t recall seeing anything about it being removed, or if it was a bug.

I’ll update clarification when 343 respond to ticket

np, I’ll help anytime, with anything I can.

I hope it’s permanently gone, tbh. I’ll have to play Halo 2 later to see for myself. The cutscene has absolutely no reason to be there and just confuses people who’ve never played H5. Not to mention that it’s not even canon.

Anymore, somewhat yes. It was a conversation held in Thel’s war tent in Halo 5, so they wouldn’t have the need to rehash who Locke is hunting while on the Lich to Sunaion. However the conversation of the relationship between John-117 and Thel 'Vadam (which is what the cutscenes really point to) is still an applicable conversation to be held in transit.

That cutscene is sweet! Do BA. It should play if you start the game solo! Hope this helps!

I was on solo, it’s still there in extra’s, h2a cutscenes

Good riddance, it was completely worthless. Seeing that confused me, and completely took me out of the game. Don’t need no H5 in my H2.

I will say that first cutscene has some of my least favorite dialogue, including some of the terrible lines from Halo 3. Just the redundancy of “trust” boils my blood.
