Recently been playing Halo 5 Forge on PC and I gotta say that aside from reqs it’s a decent game.
Unlocking armor and emblems through an RNG system? Why?
Halo 2 didn’t even have armor customization but it at least didn’t make me rely on luck to unlock armor.
EDIT: Since people seem to not be able to understand that I was joking around, I guess I’ll have to make this obvious. The title was made as a joke because of how Halo 2 doesn’t have a customization issue.

Have to agree, disagree at same time. Halo Reach was to blame for the farming that we get in H5, it’s become tiresome but it had a lot of good customising while the H3’s unlock system was the best because we actually earn our armour instead of being forced to farm them, which is why I was irritated when Halo MCC completely ditched it.

Don’t mean to start any -Yoink- with you but I have to disagree.
It’s armor customization based on a, quite frankly, -Yoink- microtransaction system where you have to constantly sell the useless -Yoink- for points. I’d much rather have no armor customization than to have to wait like a soldier in a -Yoinking!- trench for a -Yoink- piece of armor to pop up.
Let’s also consider that the only way I can earn stuff is through a Daily Login pack if you’re playing on PC. Just saying.

Still my favorite of the systems. 343I could have had it so that you needed a certain amount of req points, a certain rank, & a couple of achievements tied to each set of armor, getting more challenging as you progress. Too bad though, I would have loved that.

That is objectively false. It doesn’t matter what it’s based on, Halo 5’s armor system is objectively better than halo 2’s, given how all of Halo 2’s customization options are included in halo 5, plus so much more.

Maybe in Halo 6. They’ve been listening to the community so far it looks like.
No, I think Halo Reach had the best armor customization. Although if we are comparing Halo 2’s and 5’s armor customization, Halo 5 is the better choice because you can at least change the body or helmet. However with the whole RNG system for unlocking emblems, in my opinion was a very dumb idea. In future Halo games the emblems, all the emblems should be unlocked from the beginning.

Thank you! When Bungie had the series, they understood that emblems were for YOU to look at. Most people can’t see your emblem during gameplay unless they look really closely. There’s no point in requiring unlocks for emblems.

I kinda meant it as a sarcastic statement, nothing serious.

you mean like customize your charakter to look like an elite?
aside from that, i’ll also take no customization at all any day of the week over an RNG system with MTs added to it, to get people to spend more money.
and more content doesn’t mean better.
a system where i can choose how i look from the get go (even if there are only two optipns) against a system where i need to be lucky, or pay a lot of money, or spend a ridiculus amount of time grinding to get what i want. (and you can belive that companies prefer for you to buy it, so the other two options are made to look less attractive and more boring and time consuming).

I forgot about elites, though armor customization technically only refers to armor, not species.
That is still objectively incorrect. A system that lets you unlock armors is objectively better than no system with no armor customization. You know what’s awesome though? You just need to play one mission on the MCC to get the Mark VI Gen 1 armor, so no luck is required to make your guy look like he did in halo 2.
I liked when I could choose to be an Elite, I never really liked UNSC/human tech. As far as spartan armor went though, I guess Halo 4 had the best system IMHO. I liked each one having different effects. They didn’t create all of those different Spartan armors to be 100% the same. I don’t feel Halo 5’s system is bad, but it’s hard for me to get excited when so many of the helmets I unlock makes me look like Robocop or an aquarium with legs. I mostly look forward to unlocking new primaries or skills with lots of silver packs.
In my opinion, Halo CE and H2 had the best customization, which was none. It’s literally just something for people to complain about. When I’m in-game, 99% I don’t notice the armor/helmet my opponent is wearing, nor do I really care.
The game is fast-paced enough to where all I see is red vs blue, armor customization is a waste of space, time, and resources. Everything would be better off if we all just looked the same again.

Agreed, though I would’ve liked it even more if you could mix-and-match the Elite armor in Halo: Reach. Still, Halo: Reach had the best-looking Elite armor in the entire series, so I can’t complain too much.
