So now that I can finally play multiplayer (about time 343) I have realized that I really don’t like Halo 2’s multiplayer. I never played it back in the day because I didn’t have internet but I did play the campaign so don’t think me to be a n00b.
The grenade spamming is real. That’s all I have to say. Everyone can get 4 of each grenade and they don’t bounce as randomly as Halo 3 nor are you as fast to dodge them as you are in the new Halo games. Now I’m as much an advocate for classic Halo as anyone else who has been playing for a while but lets all agree here : grenade spamming is a cheap tactic and it very much removes from the experience if you aren’t used to it. I was playing the new version of Zanzibar and was hiding near the active camo room and first the guy threw 4 plasma’s one after the other, then he chucked in 2 frags to finish me off. After I spawned I decided to hide and watch and it literally looked like a dodge ball match with all the grenades flying back and fourth from either side. That’s happened on more than one occasion. I’m tired of it.
Grenade spamming is a newb tactic - get good! Anyone else agree or am I missing something here? Did you guys actually miss this aspect of Halo 2 and if so, any advice for someone who clearly isn’t prepared for it? I personally think that they should limit the grenade count to 2 each. That would help a lot.
I played Halo 2 when I was younger so I sucked anyways. Now that I’m playing again, I can agree that the grenade usage is ridiculous. I can barely get into a fight without having 10 of them lobbed at me. I want to play anniversary because it looks great but I want to play Halo 3 too because the grenade spamming isn’t as bad…

Yea, I’m just not having a very good first time experience. Besides that, everyone votes for Slayer Pro >_< No objectives, no big maps, no fun
I get in a Hog and everyone walks past me. I get in a ghost and get spammed with BR’s. I get in a Gungoose and get spammed by 20 grenades. Nobody likes to have fun anymore :’( All they care about is being “pro” using only the BR and their infinite grenades. Duel wield SMG’s or PR’s get completely snuffed out by BR’s because in Halo 2 its a headshot or your dead. Getting really discouraged.

Isn’t that what your supposed to do? Either go after someone or sit tight? What middle ground is there? Either I play aggressive and run after the enemy, or I play defensive and “hide in a corner”.
Between the battle rifle and the grenade spamming I cant decide what is worse. Keeping a K/D above 1 is so difficult now, its ridiculous because of these issues, and to think I used to play this game for fun. But a lack of a community and large emphasis on MLG Championships in 343 industries, Halo will do that to you
IGrenade spam isn’t a problem in Halo 2 at all. I’ve played thousands of H2 games and never once thought grenades were an issue. Players that started with Reach and 4 are just used to making bad decisions and having sprint bail them out. One thing I’ve noticed with MCC is that most players in MM are terrible. I’m not a great Halo player but I have over a 2.0 K/D ratio in matchmaking because players are so bad. People chase and make terrible pushes. They run out in the middle of lockout not expecting to get mowed down. It’s even worse in Halo CE. People don’t have a clue and again I’m not a great Halo player. Just an average one.

Keeping a K/D over 1 is difficult? It’s still easy to keep a K/D over 2.4, searching mostly alone. If I had a team i’d be around 3-4.
Grenades are a great way to keep people from camping (hiding in the camo room). By complaining about “grenade spam” you are complaining about one of the fundamental aspects of the Halo series.
For some reason H2A grenades seem a lot more powerful and possibly OP compared to their H2 counterparts. They really do make it easy to mop-kill; turning skill-based fights into an explosion. I’m not really complaining though, as I’m still having fun. Maybe they can be tuned down just a tad in the future though.

You have a 2.4 kd, yet you’ve never played the game accoring to your profile…
