Although I would wish for the return of Halo 2 for original XBox LIVE, An Aniversary Edition just seems more likely from 343 and Microsoft. Anything at this point or within the next year and a half would be great.
I currently play Halo 2 for Windows LIVE which is nice because of the variety of maps there are to download and play on and the revamped graphics, but the downside is that the population is only on average 20-60 players. Which depresses me.
And I occasionally play XLink Kai and XBoxConnect for Halo 1 and 2 System Link.
But the downside of that is the lack of certain menu options like “kick this player from game/lobby” which is an option that H2:Vista has.
> Halo 2 as a download on the marketplace would be simply amazing.
This. I just want this. If it were available, I wouldn’t have had to get CEA to compensate for my dreams.
H2 Vista drives me nuts. The lack of support is appalling. The bugs are immense (and that’s a compliment to H2 which already has a lot of glitches). And I’m not getting a wired controller just so I can alleviate a few problems.
It’s likely Halo 2 will be on the XBL market place with its XBL MP; with or without the anniversary. It would just take time.
I think Halo 2 is the best game ever and deserves an anniversary addition in tribute to it. It should be a launch title for the new system for Microsoft.
Some cool things they could add are more MP maps, 20 vs. 20 Big Team Battle, something to stop stand byers, something to stop modded controllers, more Campaign levels (like the levels they cut out do to time constraints) and ETC. I hope they don’t change the game play or graphics or glitches or ETC. They could still do a lot of cool things though, to make it a must buy for a new system.
Both ideas would make me happy. I hope that 343i realises this idea after all the attention on Halo 4 calms down. Simply just thinking about these ideas puts a smile on my face.
Halo 2 had it’s time, and that time is gone. There are ways to still play online, and the game is still enjoyable as it is.
The only reason Halo 2 should get some sort of “Anniversary Edition” is for the 20th anniversary of Halo. Any sooner would be pointless, and a true “milking” of the franchise.

It depends on how it’s done. I was a firm opponent of a Halo 1 remake, but supported CEA because of what it represented. It wasn’t a simple HD remake, it was representative of 10 years of Halo as a franchise. Short of a 20 year anniversary, I cannot see a Halo 2 remake serving any real purpose, and thus being a negative “milking” of the franchise.
Halo 4, while I’m holding off any final judgement until I play the game, could be seen as a positive “milking” of the franchise, but that remains to be seen.
If there isn’t a halo 2 remake by the time I’m 60, I am gonna put my life savings into making an army to torture the people at 343 and Microsoft.
Jk.
I hope they milk it though, to tell the truth. As far as making video games for the books. Seriously. It’s a great series, and I could see the books being fun games.

Good thing you have only 1 opinion, like the rest of us. Looks like you are a firm opponent once again. Let’s hope you are wrong yet again.
Lol, you can’t see a 10 year celebration of H2 and the 360? If you can’t see that, never go into business for yourself. If every store and corporation in America stopped milking a product even though it would make them a lot of money, we would have starved to death many years ago.

A store celebrating it’s various anniversaries and a game company milking its franchise are two very different things.

No, they are exactly the same. If you have a product that you can make money on (serious money) that is not currently marketable, you’d be an idiot not to exploit more sales. Simple business practice.
I would prefer Halo 2 to be given Live and put on the marketplace because I already have the original, but making an anniversary version would have its merits, allowing those not already in possession of the original game to be able to play.
