Before I start, I’ll say this. Halo 2 easily has one of the best Campaigns in all the Halo game history. Hands down, 2 and 4 are the best stories in the series. Again this is all in my opinion. But now I’ll get into what I cam here to say…
I was 9 years old when Halo 2 came out. I didn’t own an Xbox until I was about 13,14. I would always go to my friends houses because they had the games. Halo 2 blew my mind, it was the best game I’ve ever played. When my friends showed me Halo:CE, I also loved it. I could change between those games instantly and enjoy them both. At a younger age, it would be me and my friend messing around in Campaign, or fighting his older brother, who always beat us. We didn’t mind, it was fun. We were kids. Around the time Halo 3, in my area Halo 2 almost disappeared. There was no working disks left, or no working original Xbox. But I always remembered how much I loved it.
So now I’m 19, I’ve played hours of Halo 3 and everything between Halo 4. Also I got more into CoD, because of friends, and Battlefield, because it’s fun as f**k. All those games were all balanced in my opinion. Most shooters I played since Halo 2 were. Heck, even Destiny, and I hated that game. Anyway, when TMCC came out I hit those Campaigns hard, Halo 2 being the obvious big one. Gotta say it holds up.
But Multiplayer DOES NOT. I feel that because I didn’t play competitively as a kid, or because I wasn’t around for online original Xbox Multiplayer at all, (I always play Split-screen), that I don’t like Halo 2 multiplayer very much. BXR, Grenade Spam, Overpowered BR… I don’t enjoy these. The worst in my opinion is the melee system. I feel it’s always alternating between 1-4 hit kills! I don’t get it! I really just don’t have fun playing Halo 2 Multiplayer, it makes me wonder why there was so much hype and love for it, when the game legitimately feels like an unbalanced mess.
Sorry. I’m being to harsh, I don’t hate this game, I don’t hate Halo 2 either. But honestly I think it is the weakest Multiplayer. Halo:CE suffers from awkward Melee, and grenade spam too, but doesn’t have overpowered BR, or BXR. I have more fun playing it too. I love all the Halos for different reasons, but honestly I just don’t have fun playing Halo 2, when the mechanics seem to keep shifting. If anyone feels the same, or can teach me how the game “works”, that’d be great.
