Halo 2 cut-content that Halo 6 should use.

Cut content in Halo 2 could be revolutionary in Halo 6, if done right. Things like increased movement for enemy AI, meele combo attacks, peeking around corners, destructible environments, stealth missions, and objects used as movable cover (by both the player and AI), could add another layer of combat to the already deep player movement abilities featured in Halo 5. Things like these could, if done right, revolutionize the Halo single-player experience forever. Should 343 include at least some of Halo 2’s cut-content in Halo 6’s campaign?

Correct me I if I am wrong here…But Increased Movement for the enemy is/was already implemented. Its all in except for the climbing up pillars.
Melee combo is just an assassination with quick time events?

With how much the community complained and bemoaned the inclusion of sprint and some of the new weapons do you really think they will be ok with movable cover and destructible environments?

I’d be down with all these changes. But you have people who dislike the armor because it doesn’t look like it used to

  • It was implemented, but things like climbing up structures should be implemented, especially after the increased verticality introduced in Halo 5.
  • No, it’s not like an assassination. Here you can see a combo in it’s early form.
  • If it’s only in campaign then I don’t think that many people will get upset about it.

It happened in Halo 3 ODST.

I love the idea of sprinting they should implement that!

I remember that trailer, that was pure hype when it came out. Such a disappointment with halo 2 compared to the trailer demo. If 343 were to add those trailer features into halo 6 I’d be sold. If for some reason 343 caves (0% chance of happening I know) and makes a “classic” halo as purists put it, it better be like the trailer or CE, and not like 2-3.

How about the rest? I think they are really good ideas.

Peaking around corners is cool, But melee combos would be super annoying in multiplayer. As well as moveable cover.

Melee combos would be a challenge to balance, but movable cover could be made available in campaign/firefight only.

True; movable covers would be cool if it was just in campaign.

Interesting. Sounds like Bungie was experimenting with some kind of automated-sprint feature.

Melee combos could possibly work but aren’t really a necessity. Double Melee in Ce is pretty fun, could be nice if its anything like that.

Non-combat-peaking could possibly work for both Campaign and Multiplayer, but the D-Pad is already extremely crowded as is, and I’m sure some people would take issue with it. Best to just leave it out.

Destructible environments and marines interacting with cover aren’t a problem but I don’t really care about either. We already have plenty of destructible environments in Halo 5 in the form of walls you can bash through or shoot through, or even shields you have to coordinate fire to take down, yet you completely forgot about those things because they’re just that meaningless.

More stealth missions would be nice. I believe Halo doesn’t have to just be about running down a hall and shooting everything for each mission.

Why don’t we also take some cut content from Halo 3 while we’re at it? Let Chief or Locke climb all the way up a Guardian and have them rip one of their eyes. (Or head.) off and use it as a weapon? They could carry the eye up on their shoulders shooting ultra hype beams everywhere. And a whole Fireteam of four could carry the head on their shoulders shooting uber EMP blasts.

Joking aside, it would be cool. People who have gotten accustomed to the changes in Guardians wouldn’t mind them. But the “old school” crowd might be vocal and complain. I would totally be on board for these returning features.

But personally for me, I want “Global Battles” that was cut from Reach. Although it’s not really needed anymore, the games more advanced and we have larger set pieces now along with Warzone. I just expected Guardians to have larger Campaign missions with open ended objectives like Crysis 3 or Halo CE did. (Helping a crashed pelican to get ressuply or vehicles)

Naval Combat cut from Reach would have been spectacular in Halo 5 during the Sunion mission. Imagine driving around in Makos (concept vehicle) or something in an ocean while a Guardian was rising. Would have been a cool boss. As its rising up through the city destroying it, you should have been able to Drive around the falling wreckage and debris falling all around you in an open mission while tasked to destroy key parts of it, in an attempt to slow it and buy time to board it or something.

And I want the “Guardian Forest” mission cut from Halo 3. Instead of flying a hornet around shooting at smaller scale Guardians. Imagine being in a Broadsword hunting down a giant Guardian boss amidst a forest of ginormous Forerunner trees. Basically a boss that moves along a giant playspace where you have to damage weak points. As it takes damage it’ll clear a path moving to another area over and over again to keep it fresh while you keep attacking it through attrition until it’s dead.

But! My ideas will never see the light cause my imagination is pretty wild. Sorry for the long post but these are just some of my ideas.

I didn’t mention Halo 5’s destructible environments because they aren’t the same type as the ones mentioned in the article. I’m happy that Halo 5 gave us destructive environments if the form of multiple pathways and such, but the type of gunfight-changing destruction, such as fully destructible cover, is not present in Halo 5. Keep in mind that I’m not talking about Battlefield-scale level of destruction, just cover based destruction. For example, imagine that an elite takes cover behind a rock. You want to kill that elite so you shoot that rock until it falls apart. You just achieved two things. First off, you just exposed the elite and forced him either to retreat or to face you in open combat. Secondly, you made sure that no one (including yourself) can take cover there, effectively changing the flow of combat.

Also, destructible light sources, paired with a stealth system, could change the style of gameplay during a heated battle. You could shoot out all the light sources in a particular area, and in doing so, turn a firefight into a stealthy, hide-and-seek engagement.

yea, bring the Sharquoi since they are canon.

What is a Sharquioi?

Why did none of this come into fruitation?

The short story is that Microsoft rushed Bungie into releasing Halo 2 before it was ready.
