Why didn’t the covenant expect humans on earth?
-
Why did the covenant ship jump into slip space in the middle of earth?
-
Why was the flood running wild on the Halo? What happened to containment procedures like installation 04 had? They were contained and didn’t spread in halo CE until the covenant and humans arrived. Why were they running wild now?
-
Why did mendivant bias fight for cortana when she tried to delay the dreadnought launch?
-
Why did truth use the dreadnought to reach earth? Why not just a regular ship? And why did he let the other prophet die by the flood?
-
Why did they turn on the elites?
-
Why did such a huge force of covenant arrive at the Halo?
-
How can the flood pilot ships like the amber clad?
9.if the flood broke out, why weren’t they all over the ring?
Thanks on advance if anyone wants to answer these. I would really appreciate it

- The Prophet of Truth already knew about the location of earth and that it was humanity’s homeworld, this is explained in First Strike. However, he chose not to share this information with the other prophets. Regret learned of the portal to the Ark, but had no idea it was on a human world, never mind the homeworld.
- Regret was not doing that well, his fleet was in disarray and one of his carriers lost. So instead of fighting a losing battle, he fled to the location of a haloring that he’d discovered.
- I don’t know the answer to this.
- I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking.
- He needed the dreadnought to activate the portal, and he had to save it from a rapidly infested High Charity. Seeing as it was the most powerful ship owned by the Covenant, it would make sense that their last hierarch would be on it.
- Truth thought that their sense of honour would get in the way of orders one day, and wanted to rrplace them with the brutes. But considering how the elites should have outnumbered the brutes by the billions (brutes had one planet, elites hundreds, and brutes were introduced to the covenant less than a hundred years earlier, not leaving enough time to equal the numbers of the elites unless they breed as quickly as grunts) and how the elites are on the whole superior fleet commanders, this was a very stupid decision.
- Because the capital city, High Charity, arrived with the hierarchs and it has a massive defence fleet, making any previously seen covenant fleet pale in comparison.
- I’m not 100% sure, but I think the gravemind can interface with computers and electronics and would have been able to control the ship that way.
- I don’t know the answer to that, they may have still been kept in by the quarantine zone.

I think I can help with the blanks, but thanks RxZ Gh0styKarma for the other answers!

As seen in the mission “Gravemind”, the Oracle is captured by the Gravemind. It appears that the protocols put in place failed when a Gravemind was formed. Another thing to bring up is that there was a quarantined zone of the ring; I’m certain that was part of the protocols necessary to contain the outbreak.
-
When a Flood Infection Form infects a host body, it actually gains the knowledge of the being as it taps into the nervous system. Thus, as the Flood infected the crew of In Amber Clad (and other ships, for example the Truth and Reconciliation from CE appearing in Halo 3 as a Flood infested vessel), they were able to pilot it.
-
Going back up to 3, the quarantine zone was most likely a last resort for containment. However, the sentinels were (to my understanding) created directly to counter the Flood infection, so they would be extremely good at the very least stopping the progression of the infection. I don’t think they would be able to stand up to the Gravemind, however.

Thanks for filling in the gaps, I’d forgotten that flood forms retain their host’s previous memories but I didn’t know the answer to the other two. I’m guessing that you weren’t sure what the OP meant in question 4?
Also, you were right in what you were saying but you’re example was wrong, the Truth and Reconciliation never left installation 04, it’s a different cruiser that’s seen in Halo 3. You’re point was still correct though.
In question 4 I was referring to part in the level high charity where cortana says “There’s something fighting back. For a covenant construct it’s unusually formidable.” That was mendicant bias.
Why was he fighting cortana when she tried to delay the launch of the dreadnought?
Also if Regret was fighting a losing battle then why in Halo 3 was earth in such danger? I thought we were losing? We as in the UNSC

I’m guessing that since I think it was just a fragment of Mendicant Bias he was just stopping what he would have seen as a threat to his vessel. We’ve seen before that Forerunner AIs are rather uncompromising when it comes to their installations.

By Halo 3 we were losing. Hours after Regret fled another, much larger, Covenant fleet arrived, led by Truth’s brutes. These brutes killed the elites on Earth and carried on with Regret’s excuse of an assault on the homeworld. This is why in ODST you encounter brute led forces instead of the elite led ones from Halo 2.

As for Mendicant Bias’ reason to launch the Dreadnaught, I think he was aware it would take that fragment to the Ark where another fragment was buried by the Forerunners long ago, for information him to reflect on his sins. He wants to help humanity overcome the flood (his redemption), and this was the first step in that.
I hope, and I believe likely, that we will be showing up in someway within Halo 6 or 7.
