Halo 2 campaign dialogue bug is still there

I tried to report this bug via the support site, but either I’m blind or there doesn’t seem to be a “report bug” link anywhere on the support site. It’s weird because there’s a sticky thread that tells you to report bugs on the support site, but there’s no bug report button there. But anyway…

The bug I’m talking about is when characters speak mission critical dialogue, such as Johnson’s conversation with Miranda on Outskirts, which goes like this:

Miranda: “Sergeant, I need you on that bird”
Johnson: “Ma’am?”
Miranda: “My pelicans are going to start airlifting armor and reinforcements in this vicinity. They need an escort that isn’t afraid of a little hostile groundfire.”
Johnson: “Understood. I’ll keep an eye on 'em. Chief? Good luck!”

Johnson’s dialogue is supposed to play over the player’s radio if the player gets too far away from Johnson, and then go back to normal speaking voice when they get in close again. Currently, the radio effect kicks in when you get a certain distance away from the speaker (in this case Johnson), however the volume of the dialogue still drops the further you get away. This also affects a critical piece of mission dialogue in the final area of the game, where Miranda and 343 Guilty Spark discuss how to stop Delta Halo from firing. This is supposed to set the narrative stage for the player needing to beat up Tartarus in order to stop the firing sequence. Without that conversation, the task feels a bit flat and you just lose out on what Bungie originally intended. If you happen to be near the two as they talk, you’ll hear it. But chances are, you’ll miss out on it completely.

A few examples of where this happens:

The aforementioned conversation between Miranda and Johnson on Outskirts.
The shipmaster giving the player instructions on how to get to the Scarab on The Great Journey is completely missed if the player is not next to him.
The conversation between Spark and Miranda at the end of the game.

There are likely more that I can’t think of right now, but this bug still needs to be fixed.

Yeah sounds like they should look at this. I have reported bugs on the support site before, but it’s a little complicated and I don’t exactly remember how to do it. I think you need to look through the current bug reports first. Like you need to select the game, select the bug list, select that your issue isn’t listed, and then take another few steps or something.

Please use the Halo Support site to file any bug reports you have: https://aka.ms/Halo Support. Have a read through the the latest known issues articles and then you’ll see where to submit a ticket if your issue is not listed.
