Halo 2 beta Battle Rifle

I can’t believe this isn’t being done in Halo 4. (3:30)

So, as you know, the Battle Rifle AND the DMR is in Halo 4. Yet, in the Halo 2 beta the battle rifle was practically a fusion of the DMR and BR. When scoped out, it’s a Battle Rifle. When scope it, it’s a one-shot rifle, the DMR. It makes perfect sense seeing how not only does zooming in make your shots more accurate but so does the one-shot function.

KillaKC, an MLG administrator said that during his play time with Halo 4 the BR was the weapon to go to at mid to close-range, and the DMR was the weapon t go to for long range. Now, why didn’t this get done? Why did 343i suddenly add a weapon that was non-existent in the first three games? This would have made a lot more sense canon AND gameplay-wise (two rifles, really?)

Thoughts?

Soooo the game is already limited down to just the BR and DMR, and you want to limit that even further to turn it into a one-gun game again?

Ok, seriously, is the idea of learning how to combat other weapons really that painful?

It would work out. It would certainly make it harder, yet more interesting to use. And it would increase skillgap with the weapon.

You also wouldn’t be forced into a niche on spawn.

But yeah, it sounds too good to be true. Especially in this stage of development. I guess we’ll have to make a choice: DMR or BR. Who knows, maybe one is OP so we can use that to our advantage.

Variety (in reason) is better. I mean, most people loved the colossal amount of useless armour perms in Reach, didn’t they?

Only adds to the experience.
