I understand the Halo 2 BR, and the Brute Plasma Rifle, and definitely the SPNKR, but can someone tell me why the Halo 2 Beam Rifle? What will be different about it?
Fans like classic weapons.
It’s an easy way to add a dose of nostalgia for Halo vets.
I really don’t know. Probably just nostalgia. I’m really interested to see what the variants do differently. I love the regular beam rifle so to get more is awesome to me.
It will shoot forklifts
Because of H2A, they have all these high texture models of classic weapons. It’s a fairly easy port. So, deliver content, deliver nostalgia, without a full blown model development, which takes alot of time. Win-win, or lazy? Everyone has a different view. I can see both sides, but ultimately I’m happy.
Counterpoint: why not? Your move, OP.
Literally no one feels nostalgic with the Halo 2 Beam Rifle. That thing will for ever be known as Chief’s Bane, because of those Jackal sniper hackers.

Correction: some fans like classic weapons. I could care less personally.

Counter counterpoint: Because it will probably be the same thing as the regular beam with more aim assist that will add even more clutter to the REQ system.
Check mate.
I guess it was the easiest one for them to do and the Beam Rifle was an underused weapon which they wanted to bump
I don’t believe that a regular beam rifle has that much bullet reaction right? Unlike the sniper rifle, I find it harder to end up getting hits with it, I’m good with a regular sniper but not with it. Maybe this will make it a little bit easier to get a hit.

Pretty much. Would have been better if they gave us a sentinel beam, plasma repeater or focus rifle that functions differently. Still I’m hopeful for the other req variants of it. I heard one of them shoots a voids tear gravimetric vortex at the point of impact.
I like the fact that they’re trying to appeal to the Halo vets by bringing in classic weapons.
But have you heard anyone saying “Man, I really want the Halo 2 Beam Rifle in Halo 5!”
Uh, no.
I see complaints due to the lack of a Classic playlist with no Sprint or Spartan Abilities, petitions for playable Elites, and more ways to buy your favorite weapons, vehicles, and armor that’s not through randomized loot packages. 343 listens worse than Bungie.
The sound and feel

Not really, practically everything we wanted got put in the game, just a matter of time till we got it. Randomized loot packages work and may end up saving you more work. Maybe they can charge 30k req points for a nornfang certification instead of getting some from a 10k gold pack. Not worth it that much. But like I said before, this new beam rifle probably has some neat twist to it.

The H2 Beam Rifle probably will be different than the current one, and I’m not saying I dislike all the things 343 is adding in Halo 5. I’m saying they need to focus on the issues the community is asking for them to look into, rather than investing their time in little petty things that nobody cares about that much.
And as much as I’d love for 343 to sell weapons, vehicles, and armor seperatley, I doubt they’ll do that because it will make their microtransactions and REQ packs pointless for some.
Because it’s a better design then the Halo 5 one.

Literally everything in the Bungie Halos had a better design than anything 343 has done so far. Might as well redesign the whole game.
