Ok so I’ve played a bit of Halo 5. I’m currently rank 133 and I’ve been unlocking rec packs the whole time, I went through silvers first and once I unlocked all of the rares and lower I started to open up Gold packs. I have yet to unlock the Halo 2 BR which is frustrating on it’s own but not impossible since it is RNG based. But what I have noticed is that whenever I play warzone that a lot of my enemies have the Halo 2 BR already. This is probably irrational but I’m actually starting to think that the Halo 5 matchmaking algorithm is intentionally pairing me with opponents that have a high chance of winning, and that have the Halo 2 BR in order to try to get me to cave and buy packs. Is there anything I can do to expedite the process of getting the surperior weapon? As it stands I am absolutely sick of being pay walled away from it and unlucky enough to feel like it’s gonna be my last unlock.
Just keep opening golds and you will get it eventually. For most it seems it’s one of the last unlocks they get… It was for me.

Pray to the gods of RNG
Sell all your one time use reqs. I had everything unlocked selling everything that wasn’t an RP boost by roughly 122ish. Should also bare in mind the games been out for a long time. The remaining sweaties have already unlocked just about everything.
It’s RNG luck, my last Req was the Hellljumper helmet & the H2BR back in the start of 2016

Tbh the H2BR is nothing special in warzone or firefight. At level 5 reqs you can get a DMR which has better range than the BR and since all warzone and firefight has big open fields, it’s probably best to have a DMR over a BR and have an AR or SMG as your secondary weapon. But even if you like BR’S over DMR’S you still shouldn’t be using the H2BR because there are a lot of better BR’s that you can get at 5 reqs.
Like Laser Targeter which has better accuracy.
Long Barrel which has better range.
Kinetic Bolts which does more damage to vehicles and has knockback.
Stabilization Jets which has less recoil ( sort of like the H2BR)
Silencer which reduces visibility on enemy Motion Trackers when firing
Extended Mag which has more ammo
Threat Marker which tracks the enemies you shoot.
The time to kill for the H2BR is also higher than the normal halo 5 BR. That means if a H2BR faced a H5BR and they both shot at the same time and neither missed any of their shots, the h5br will always win. The only thing the H2BR has over the normal br is that it has no recoil and it has more bullet magnetism. everything else is either the same or worst then the Halo 5 BR. And you can fix the recoil by using the stabilization jets to lessen the recoil and still have the higher DPS that the H5BR has.
I believe the H2BR is the only loadout weapon that’s mythic rarity. So for many people, myself included, it’s one fo the last items you unlock. Just gotta keep grinding and hoping!
I unlocked it at around level 130. I did not start off doing the Silver to Gold grind. That is the RGN grind. Just keep at it, you’ll get it before you know it.

I’m with you bud, it’s all a big con, and while we are at it, we didn’t land on the moon either.
(in case anyone missed it the above is said very much with tongue in cheek)

I’m right with you brother. I’m 148 or something and still haven’t even unlocked anything other than the standard magnum.

I’m pretty sure on Halo Tracker after the match ends you can see who had a higher chance of winning and I have found it to be 100% correct.

How is this even possible?

It’s a joke. He is not even 148 he is 145 as of right now. Everyone will have all the reqs by the time they are level 140-145 even if you didn’t use real money. The only way you could not have all the reqs by SR 145 is if you spend your RP on sliver and bronze pack after you already gotten all the reqs you could get from sliver packs. Or you gotten a lot of exp during double exp.
I highly doubt you’re being matched intentionally against those with the H5 BR. Certainly it’s not a scheme to get you to spend real money. My only advice is just keep grinding away and use those RP boosts to help. Just need to be persistent and have patience. Good luck.

Activision actually patented a matchmaking system that intentionally places people who have high level gear against people who don’t as a way to coerce them into buying lootboxes in CoD. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to learn all games with gear based microtransactions (like 343 and H5) aren’t using a similar algorithm in their MM’ing as well.
Hands down my favorite mode in h5 besides team HCS/Arena

And in what way is this relevent to the thread?

Relevant to say H2 BR is sick in H5. Which is why I wish it was in more modes. Plus pushing it back to 5 reqs to unlock sucks. it was 4 reqs i think in warzone. Getting the REq in the first place is hard. that’s why you should only open by bronze first then silver and lastly gold. Because opening gold doesn’t mean you’ll only unlock the best reqs.

That would be pretty wild if in fact true.

There are numerous videos about the patent on YouTube. I think I first learned about it from Laymen Gaming, but I’m not sure.

While true for Activision, I don’t think this is the case for Halo 5. I’m not a fan of the REQ system and there are plenty of situations where it feels like there’s some nudging toward spending cash, I don’t think that occurs in matchmaking itself. If it were true, then the converse would be true as well. Meaning, players with the H2BR unlocked would match up more with players who don’t have it. When Warzone Assault was still around, I’d play it regularly and would see a bunch of players on the opposing team getting kills with it as soon as level 4 came around.
