Halo 2 Anniversary Models

In a bit of pre-E3 speculation/wishful thinking, what models from previous games would you like to see used as a base in the ‘remastered’ version of Halo 2.

CEA used a combination of Reach and to a lesser extent Halo 3 models which felt appropriate and lent some consistency going from Reach to CEA.

I for one would not want to see any Halo 4 models as they would feel very out of place(though I wouldn’t be surprised to see them as placeholders).

My personal wishlist:

Are their any particular models you would like to see in a Halo 2 Anniversary? Any you wouldn’t want to see? Am I overthinkiing things a bit?

I don’t want to see anything from Halo 4 and few things from Reach… keep the Reach Banshee model out! I’d keep it to Halo 3 and updated Halo 2. The Brutes and Elites especially should just be updated Halo 2 models.

Halo 2 Weapons are pretty different from Halo 3 models. The BR and Magnum for instance. I think they need to use as little from other games as possible and re-skin what is already in H2.

Mmmm, no.

That is way to many Halo 3 models.

Oh lookie, no Halo 4!

Gosh. I can agree with Halo 2’s ODST being rather awesome however. I can recreate those in Halo 4…

Halo 4’s Jackal design actually put meat on their bones. They were easily the worst-designed enemy in Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2.

We agree on several points, but there’s a few changes I’d make. Now, assuming they’re all shiny and HD:

UNSC

*Marines: Halo 3
*ODST: Reach, plus rare Recon variants
*Chief: Updated Halo 2

Grunts

*Grunt Minor: Anniversary
*Grunt Major: Anniversary

Jackals

*Jackal Minor: Reach
*Jackal Major: Halo 4 (shut up. I believe in Kig-Yar ethnicity, and it would make sense to have higher-ranking Covies look intimidating)
*Jackal Sniper: Reach

Elites

*Elite Minor: Anniversary
*Elite Major: Both Anniversary Majors and Reach Officers (50% chance of seeing either)
Stealth Elite: Reach Spec Ops, black
Spec-Ops: Reach
Elite Ultra: Reach
Arbiter: Updated Halo 3 armor, Reach-era Sangheili
*Rtas Vadumee: Reach Zealot with Minor/no helmet, Reach-era Sangheili
Sesa 'Refumee: Halo 4 Warrior body (red and gold color scheme), no helmet or weird hand armor things, Halo 4-era Sangheili

Brutes

Brute Minor: Redesigned Halo 2
Brute Captain: Halo 3 Brute Captains, red armor
Tartarus: Reach Chieftain](http://www.halopedia.org/images/d/d5/Reach_-_Chieftain.png) with Captain Major color, redesigned head

Other Covenant

Hunters: Reach
Prophets: Redesigned Halo 2, Halo 3 Truth voice

Flood: Redesigned

UNSC weapon

*Reach models

Covy Weapons
*Halo 4 and Reach models

Now that I could agree with, except for the Voice actor for Truth. I felt that Michael Wincott vocied a better Truth than Terence Stamp.

Either Anniversary or redesign

Halo 2 and 3 were so aesthetically similar, I agree with a lot of these. I like how a lot of the new Covenant technology looks, such as the Ghost. I’d like to see some aspects of Halo 4’s designs incorperated into h2A.

They should stick to the Reach/CEA designs. I may have liked the Halo 4 designs, but they should not be included. Jul’s Covenant is outdated with older gear and weapons. The Covenant we saw from Reach-2 was at its height. They were far better equipped. Jul’s Covenant also features different sub-species or variations of Grunts, Jackals and Elites. Those sub-species and variations should be kept with Jul.

For me, it would go like this:

All Grunt models should be from Halo Reach, or Reach-like (Reach is 4 years old now). I love the updates looks and the armor variations.

Same with the Jackals. Updated Reach models. Let’s be honest, the Jackals never changed much between Halo 2 and Halo Reach. I just personally like Reach’s art direction.

Same goes for the Elites. The Reach models were like high-res CE Models, and I think they should return for an Anniversary edition. I also wouldn’t mind the Halo 4 style Elites, so long as they wore armor we see in Reach/CEA.

For the Brutes, I would like to see either the Reach models or the Halo 3 models. Anything to straighten out the inconsistent designs of the Brute armor between games. For Tartarus, I would hope to see him with War-Chieftan Armor, or something based on that. He is described as wearing golden armor in Contact Harvest, and that’s what I always imagined.

Drones I would go with updated Halo 3 models. If some of the variants seen in ODST could be added, go for it!

Hunters? Halo 4. Loved 343’s version of the hunters.

Flood? Updated Halo 3. I would love if the Flood Juggernaut could be programmed back into the game with visual upgrades, but that’s probably just a fantasy.

For weapons, I would hope 343 tries to stay as close to the originals as possible. So, some Halo 4 models could be used, but as an example, no Halo 4-style beam rifle (I like the design, but it is an older model, canonically).

For the majority of vehicles, I think updated Reach models would do. I personally have no problem if they were to use the Reach-style Banshee and such.

Speaking of vehicles, let’s talks about the Scarab. I think they would have to go with an updated Halo 2 model, since it is so vastly different than the Halo 3 models. If possible (and a little of topic), it would be nice of 343 could clarify the difference between the different scarab models we’ve seen.

Let’s also talk about the Phantoms. Any model since Halo 3 could be used as a base, as they are all very similar. However, the Halo 2 variant is also vastly different from its successors, with the exception of Halo Reach’s space Phantom (the only difference being the number of plasma canons). As with the scarab, if a clarification of the different models could be made, awesome!

Anyway, Sentinels. Updates 3 models would be preferable, obviously, and the Enforcer variant would need to be made new.

For the marine forces, Halo 3 style models. For ODSTs, I would love to see, if possible, the different variant from Halo 3: ODST, and maybe some new ones.

For the Prophets, simple updates models, perhaps based on Halo 3’s Truth.

For the Arbiter, I wouldn’t mind Halo 4’s Elite designs with the Arbiter armor. The real question, I think, would be the color. Halo 2 is classically silver, but it turns golden in Halo 3. I’m not really for one or the other, but I might lean towards gold for the sake of consistency between games.

I think that’s everything.

They should use the Halo:Reach Marines in Halo 2:Anniversary. I hated how they looked in Halo 3. The Reach ones looked better than ever.

Same deal with the Covenant; all the Reach models (which is to say, Anniversary). Nothing from Halo 4, thank you.

I think Halo 2: Anniversary should use alot of the models from Halo Reach and Halo CEA (IMO) they looked the best.

I don’t want them to use Elite models from other games in place of those oh-so sweet Halo 2 ones; update the graphics, but leave Halo 3/Reach/Halo 4 out of that.

In fact, if I could have it my way, every model would just be redone instead of fitted with a placeholder.

A huge gripe that I had with CEA was that it recycled older models instead of making new ones. That being said, if H2A exists, I want new models.

> A huge gripe that I had with CEA was that it recycled older models instead of making new ones. That being said, if H2A exists, I want new models.

I would have to disagree. I rather like how they took what they had and improvised. Besides, Combat Evolved happened just after Reach, so it would make sense for the Covenant to look similar after such a brief time period. But, at the same time, you want the new models to bear resemblance to the original. So, looking at it that way, Anniversary did it pretty right. The only thing I disagree with is the Minor; Reach’s looked better than Anniversary’s. But the new Elite Major kinda made up for it.

I don’t know how they’ll explain Elites turning from pale purple to brown, though. Hopefully, they’ll either make small edits to the Anniversary models (aside from a tremendous graphics update, of course), or new models entirely. Either way, I like Covenant ranks being seperated by something other than armor color.

I think one must be careful in how they do this.

Halo 2 had a huge following and is arguably the best game in the series. There are a lot of older players (myself included) who really want to play H2 on Xbox live again with modern graphics, and the glitches exempted. I see no problem in updating the graphic skin of the characters so they are basically updated halo 3 character skins, but the Reach and halo 4 appearance of elites look way to different in art style.

As for the various elite and other alien art styles I wish they would simply explain these artistic changes as different species or races of the main groups. I loved the look of the Elites from Halo 2 and Halo 3 and hope to see there return in this classic art form in Halo 2 anniversary.

I also hope they bring back the ranking system and the clan option in multiplayer as well.

That’s been done. There are three different subtypes of Jackals, from different parts of the same general area: Eayn natives (standard), T’vaoans (Skirmishers), and some backwater Ible’sh locals (Storm). Similarly, with Elites, we have seen them in purple (Anniversary), brown (Halo 2/3), black (Reach), and scaled (Halo 4), and the Bull Elites in Halo Wars. I don’t remember where I read it, but these are different races of Sangheili, just like there are white, black, and other-colored humans.

> A huge gripe that I had with CEA was that it recycled older models instead of making new ones. That being said, if H2A exists, I want new models.

I liked that they did this. It kept things consistent, but they were not completely the same.

I would like it if there was more consistency. The only games in which Bungie kept similar designs were Halo CE and 2. They changed so much in Halo 3, then again in Reach. I can give a pass to Wars (It would make sense for them to not look completely the same after 20 years) and 4 (We fight a completely different Covenant). That aside, it bothers me to see 3 different major designs of the same enemy in a span of just a few months.

In Escalation, Thel’s forces retain their Halo 3 appearance. The Remnant keeps their Halo 4 appearance. I can only hope that 343 continues to keep things consistent in the future. Hopefully they do this with the games too.

Don’t like the idea. If you want models for 343 to use it has to be ither Reach or Halo 3 models. Nothing else and no Halo 4 models! Also 343 can’t change anything else. They need to leave Halo 2 as it is but change the graphics and the models. Look at what they did to Halo CEA. That is a perfect example what 343 should do but they should add mulitplayer in it. If I had to pick for the model for them to use…it would be the H3 model. However, for some they need a good graphic overhaul. Keyes was changed in CEA they did a great job with that. They should do the same make up their own model on certain ones like the Sangheili Honor Guards and Counselors, but they need to keep the body as it is with the model they are choosing.

Most Elites in the Covenant have ranks. The armor they should use on the Elites are the Combat with their rank colors. Ranger Elites should be having the Flight Armor permutation since that is indeed the Ranger armor but the lights where the eyes are on the helmet should remain green. Armor color should be Teal like in H2 with the jet pack from Reach on. Rest remain as Combat and their armor with the rank color.

Prophets should have the H3 version since Truth is the only one we know by far with that model. There’s one for Halo Wars with Regret but it won’t work. Grunts their armor should be just like they did in CEA but the Ultra armor can be colored white, which isn’t too hard to do.

So in my opinion go with the H3 models 343. There’s many in there. As long as you DO NOT go with H4 models, then we fans will be happy! Seriously the H4 models on everyone sucks. It won’t look good at all in H2.
