Halo 2 anniversary being disscused

As phil spencer says in his recent interview they have re-concidered a Halo 2 anniversary but want to do whats right for the franchise.

The Halo trailer shown at E3 was not Halo 5 but just to show there is a Halo game starring master chief for the xbox one.

Usually a Halo game that continues from the last takes about 3 years this one is coming out in 2 if its late 2014. If its early thats even less time.

Halo CE 2001 - Halo 2 2004 - Halo 3 2007

If Halo 2 anniversary was released for 2014 does that mean 343 just want more time to spend on Halo 5 possibly four to five years.

To me honestly I still believe this is halo 5 and won’t be able Halo 2 anniversary but I kind of wish it would be Halo 2 anniversary.

what do you guys and girls think leave your comments.

this isn’t halo 2 anniversary. I really think this is halo 5, because it has all the things u would think a sequel to halo 4 would have.

> this isn’t halo 2 anniversary. I really think this is halo 5, because it has all the things u would think a sequel to halo 4 would have.

What do you mean? We know nothing about Halo 5. That wasn’t even a trailer for Halo 5 that was just to show there is going to be a Halo game for the Xbox one. As phil spencer said in his interview.

I still dont believe the next Halo game could be Halo 2 anniversary but you never know.

Were going to have to wait for the next E3 or untill 343 or microsoft say something.

Halo 2 Anniversary isn’t happening.

It isn’t on their list of ‘things to do’ at this time.

Halo 2 Anniversary won’t be as popular as people think and there is no reason it should be done other than community requests because they are blinded by nostalgia.

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary was to celebrate 10 years of Halo on the Xbox console(s), not specifically the game itself. Halo 2 only has it’s 10 year anniversary which to be honest, isn’t enough to warrant a remake

Also, please tell me why they would show a scene which is clearly post-Halo 4, with a Forerunner Sphinx, and then just say it was Halo 2 Anniversary?

Beat me to it.
Bango.

I mean that the trailer shows things like cortana’s chip, his armour is the same as the one in halo 4. im not saying its going to be called halo 5, it might be called something else, but it defiantly didn’t look like halo 2 anniversary.

exactly.

my last post fudged up big time soz

It is true that the trailer is post Halo 5 but why would Phil Spencer say that that isnt Halo 5 but just a trailer to show off that halo is coming to the Xbox one and there will be a Halo game running at 60 frames per second and has dedicated servers but isnt halo 5.

I’m not sure if that’s just because they havent decided on an official title for it instead of Halo 5.

I’m not saying that that was a trailer to show off halo 2 anniversary because it wouldnt make much sense its clearly post halo 4.

but I’m not declining the fact that there could be a halo 2 anniversary being thought about being worked on.

Because it might not be flat out called Halo 5, like you said.

It might be something like, Halo 5: The Journey (to find Cortana) or something like that. They simply don’t want to announce Halo 5 yet and the trailer was to confirm Halo would return, on Xbox One, in 2014, with dedicated servers, and 60 FPS gameplay.

Halo 2 Anniversary isn’t in the works, as confirmed by bs angel on Twitter - stop assuming it is and don’t link H2A to this trailer. Nothing relates them.

Can I tell you this any easier?

We get it, it isn’t called ‘Halo 5’ and we know it isn’t Halo 2 Anniversary, those two facts are confirmed.

There is no reason for Halo 2 Anniversary to happen, Halo CEA happened to celebrate 10 year of Halo on Xbox, not 10 years of Halo CE being released.

And I understand that its not Halo 2 anniversary and Halo 5 hasn’t been named but im just putting it out there that its a possibility in the future.

BS angle said its not currently on their list of things to do. That was May 19th. Anything can happen thats all I am saying Anything can change.

The thing is we just dont know.

Okay? Lets just leave it at that.

> Can I tell you this any easier?

Great. BS Angel said that. We get it. Thing is, developers don’t exactly just reveal that they have a game planned. If I were to ask Bethesda if they were working on a new Elder Scrolls game, guess what?

They’d probably say there are no plans in the work. Because that is the generic industry response.

> There is no reason for Halo 2 Anniversary to happen

Other than the fact it is a fan favorite and is now unavailable online in any form?

Look. If Phil Spencer is saying “We’ve been talking about it, considering it”, in an interview only a few days old, I take that word more than a twitter response from May.

Exactly what im trying to put out there.

  1. You usually get a variety of responses if you ask a developer what they have planned. Some of those are usually “We can’t talk about that at this time.”, “We aren’t doing that at the moment.” or “It isn’t currently on our list of things to do.”

They don’t want to close out the option of it happening cause it may very well, but like I’m constantly saying, there is no reason for it to happen.

People only ever remember the good things about Halo 2, hence the nostalgia references I made a post or two ago. They don’t remember all the bad times about it because they simple don’t want to.

  1. You claim it is a fan favourite, but do you honestly have the numbers to back that up? Let’s face it, Halo 2 on the original Xbox had an extremely low amount of players up until they announced the original Xbox LIVE service was going to shut off, and then it got a minor population boost until it was shut down.

Also, Halo 2 is still available to play, via the Xbox LIVE service on PC, although it is a pretty poor port. You can also use third party softwares like Xbox Connect to play Halo 2 on Xbox with other players, there is a pinned topic for that in the Halo 2 section of these forums as well.

As for what Phil Spencer said, do you know the date he last talked about Halo 2 Anniversary with the top guys at 343i? It could have been before May, prior to bs angel’s tweet for all we know, which could have resulted in her finally saying “it isn’t on our list of things to do” instead of just ignoring the tweets like before or giving other generic answers.

Once again, there is absolutely no reason for Halo 2 Anniversary to happen, the numbers you see on the internet that support H2A are miniscule compared to the overall Halo population, it seems huge because this forum itself is dominated by requests for it on a daily basis and with only 545k members, 3/4 likely don’t even post, I wouldn’t exactly call it a fan favourite to return in any way.
