I dislike the fact that I am forced to install the entire MCC when I really only want to play H2A. While a bunch of MCC is re-worked, would it be too much to ask for H2A to be released Stand-Alone?

This would be HUGE if 343 would do it. There are countless people who love this game and want to be able to play it. I sure as heck do.
I am a firm believer that Halo 2 was the best game that they made. Don’t ask me why it just is. I like the idea of swapping games with one screen instead of swapping discs.
I’ve been saying this since the MCC was released. I’m glad there are others who agree.
IMO it wouldn’t be worth it. Plus MCC is getting patched.
We probably wouldn’t be giving 343i lists on how to fix this broken collection if they’ve just focused on remastering Halo 2’s Campaign and remaking the MP, while keeping the Classic MP intact.

You’re saying that their best game was a remaster (and is also a remake, to some extent) to another company’s game?

No I just feel that Halo 2 was the one game that I got involved in most. I loved the game play and the story alone.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I prefer Halo: CE’s more simplistic story, and thought Halo 2’s level-design and gameplay were massive downgrades - mainly because of how the weapons were nerfed and the fact that the missions were more corridor-based. Sure, CE has its own case of repetition, but I felt every gun was worth picking up and had niches of their own, including the Needler (which was mostly useless in MP, and possibly the worst Needler in the franchise). I have to give Halo 2 props, though, and it had arguably the best soundtrack in the series, and being able to play as the Arbiter was something special (despite being the exact alien equivalent to MC, aside from being able to turn on Active Camouflage).

I think that they should have released Halo 2 Anniversary as a stand-alone, and then released MCC with Halo 3 anniversary. If they had done that, they probaly wouldn’t had much patch work to do with the game. But it is what it is. I still enjoy MCC and I appreciate that they’re going to update it. All I want in 2018 is their actions, not words.

In all honesty, we would likely still be dealing with the same Halo 2 bugs. This is because Halo 2 Anniversary uses Halo 2 Vista as a base rather than Halo 2 Xbox. Halo 2 Vista is notorious for being buggier than H2X and alot of the current issues in H2A are the exact same bugs that were in H2V that were never fixed. Examples include hit detection, crashes on certain levels and fall damage.
I would love a standalone H2A though. In fact, I would have preferred it.

I 100% agree man. Halo 2 is an amazing game that needs to be fully brought back online with all MP maps slowly remastered.

It wouldn’t be as huge as one would think. Yes, Halo 2 was the biggest game of its time but the following for Halo 2 is mostly adults. It wouldn’t sell millions of copies like Call of Duty’s Modern Warfare Remastered would. MCC is better than nothing. I’m just happy to be playing Halo CE and Halo 2 online again

I actually made a post on the xbox uservoice fourms about this. I won’t go into detail on here but if you want to give it a read or vote for it as an idea then by all means. https://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/363186--new-ideas/suggestions/31588489-halo-2-remastered-pc
My idea would be to make it a stand alone so it could be on play anywhere with a pc version.

I guess it was easier for them to port the Vista version, since that still has a netcode, and so does Halo: CE on PC. The PC verison for Halo: CE was terrible though, and it looked significantly worse than the Xbox version because of the missing shaders and other graphical errors. I could see them doing this in 2014, but it was stupid back when it was a standalone title.

Yeah, the Vista version technically already runs on x86, which is what the Xbox One supports and already has support for high resolution textures and resolutions. It was likely a much cheaper and quicker way to implement into the MCC and get running on the Xbox One rather than porting the 32 bit original and then re-doing the texture work etc.
As for Halo PC, the graphical errors and missing shaders are actually a bug with Nvidia graphics cards only, something I don’t think Digital Foundry were aware of in their DF Retro segment. Using the Nvidia control panel, you can actually fix and regain the missing features whilst AMD cards still have them all. I honestly have no idea why Halo PC had some features missing for Nvidia graphics cards but at least it is all user fixable. There was a big thread on Bungie’s PC forum that we made regarding the fixes for it all those years ago. My only complaint with the PC version was the netcode supporting dial up, which lead to having to lead your shots considerably but even then, we the community managed to fix that as well. It’s impressive how much work the Halo community has done over a game they love.
Edit Mod delete this post, sorry for accidental double post.
They really just need to make Halo 2 Anniversary standalone because the player base for MCC is garbage and you can never find a game
I would be agree if halo 2a standalone long time ago but mcc shouldn’t released until halo 4 anniversary release until 2022 in solo and later in the furthermore future the MCC will release in 2024 thru whatever it’s release it will contain all halo classics and halo anniversary collection that I would recall but I basically waste my $ on a cheap new game that still the same problems like always so why bother.
I love the MCC concept, but most people (including me) want to play Halo 2. I am getting the xbox one s and along side it i am getting halo 5,MCC
