When shooting a player at long range on halo 2 and 3 (mcc) alot of my shots won’t hit the target, I might as well not even touch the sniper rifle on halo 2 classic. Even when my aim is perfect. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. Maybe this is normal. Also I’m trying to remember if it has always been that way on halo 2… Been 10 years but for some reason I think it was that way originally.
On halo 2 you had to take bullet lag into consideration playing on large maps such a coagulation. Just played a match on bloodline and trying to snipe someone at the other base from one base you have to aim just a tad in front of them. But usually you can tell by the reticle lighting up red or not.
Even when the connection to a game is very good, there is still some lag. That’s just an inevitability of the internet so you need to adjust for that. the greatest the distance, the more you are going to need to lead your target.
I have seen some other threads on here (complete with video) that have complained of the same thing. from what I saw, even though there was a red dot in the middle of the reticle indicating a headshot, they were still aiming at the back half of the players head, even at a shorter range that wont produce a headshot as they need to be aiming a little ahead of the direction that the player is moving. This generally isn’t a consequence of the game, but just a side effect of playing people across the internet. You generally don’t notice it as much in games like CoD because headshots aren’t necessary to get a kill because you can kill so quickly with every single gun by just spraying body shots.
This is one reason why playing on LAN is so great. Generally LAN games have a ping of less than 5ms which basically takes that variable out of the equation and what you see is what you actually get.
Here’s to hoping they bring back LAN play…
Halo 3 shots don’t register because you have to lead them. Halo 2 classic however, it had some of this in the game but mainly if the host was bad. It is down right ridiculous on MCC. At least half of sniper shots just stop when they connect to another Spartans skull.
Watch this video, it shows that there is a problem with shot registration on halo 2 classic at least
I’m having a lot of trouble with shots not registering across all games. It seems like there is something weird in the netcode. Hopefully they get the dedicated servers running soon.
