Halo 2 Alternate Ending

So I read on IGN that apparently there was originally a different ending up Halo 2…but it was “impossible” to make happen.

Do you know what this ending did?

Marty did an interview with IGN about some old Halo stories and the Halo 2 ending came up, apparently he still has a load of archived material from it. Short version is that the Ark was originally on Earth and the battle was set to end there. I’m so happy to finally know what the actual plan was, maybe Marty leaving Bungie isn’t all bad

It’s an interesting read, and would’ve changed the entire Halo landscape I think. I feel there was too much material to cover to neatly wrap up the Halo 2 ending if the fight was actually finished (or at least brought to a reasonable, temporary conclusion) in that game. It was one of the best campaigns, but with what Halo 3 became, there would’ve been too much story and plot to jam in. Would’ve liked to have never been stuck with the cliffhanger ending, but that supposed original ending is overkill.

I sometimes wish Marty could come back to HALO and team up with Kazuma Jinnochi, they would both RULE THE GALAXY WITH THEIR EPIC MUSIC!!!

I agree, and I think for that same reason that Halo 3 should have had a slightly longer campaign. Halo 3 was good, no doubt, but with all the plot and story and setting that Halo 2 set up, Halo 3 could have had at least one more mission, preferably on The Ark,

There is a Halo 2 alternate ending but its like the Halo CE alternate ending you have to wait pretty much for the endless ammounts of elites to drain Tartarus’s HP to super low and then kill him. (This will take really long time) Best to do something else. After a stupid long time go and kill Tartarus and then you get the other ending OuO. PS: I mean 6-8 hours wait time before actually beginning to fight Tartarus and the game glitches and rather than stoping the ring the Great Journey will actually happen. ONLY a very few know about this easter egg. Have fun watching worlds get vaporized O.O. I can confirm that what this video shows is the legit second ending https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfYnS1UMze4

I got the second ending pure fluke I left my xbox classic on with halo 2 for a long time. maybe 16 hours I flip it on play kill Tartarus and the following cutscene plays. This is not a april fool joke but a epic cutscene. I repeat I have gotten the same cutscene I have no way to repeat it other than leave my xbox on at the tartarus fight and sit and repeat the same process OuO.

I repeat this is not a troll just a long forgotten easter egg.

Sweet!

Will it work in the mcc?

the actual ending its perfect Halo 2 its perfect.

It is original xbox only it along with Blow Me Away was kinda black listed with MCC. T.T

Halo CE
Halo 2 both have alt endings based on the output of the mission.

You’re exactly right. Bungie had to cut the end of the game off which is why we ended where we did with Halo 2. Also, I had hoped that Marty would have made his way over to 343 by now

Marty has started his own company called Highwire Games, I believe a few ex-Halo members are there. I know Vic Deleon recently moved from there from 343. I think there was an interview with him and someone asked that question, the answer given was that nobody had approached. I maybe be thinking about someone else though. Maybe he doesn’t want to move back to Halo again, personally after that amount of time I might find it refreshing to move on to something new. Looking forward to Golem myself, got a pre-order on the soundtrack

I think I heard this as well, but the reason why it was scrapped was because someone was leaving and it ended up being the ending we got instead, but because it was such a cliffhanger fans were split between excited and upset.
