Halo 2 & 3 only had 11 maps at launch, is Infinite having 10 really that bad?

Fairly certain Forge launched with Halo 3 at launch.

That is completely incorrect. Halo 3 launched with Forge and only 5 and Infinite have not since.

Halo 3 did definitely have Forge at launch. However, it should be noted that none of the launch maps was a dedicated Forge map which in turn greatly limited the use of forge to minior map modifications. The Forge maps Foundary and Sandbox did instead get introduced at a later point as payed DLC.

Those games had 3 year development cycles. Halo: Infinite had a 6 year development cycle. Double the development time, no coop and no mission select. Also Halo: Infinite is a ‘live service’ game. Which means it should have launched with more content or had better post content support. Both of which it has failed at.

Yep. You guys are right. Misremembering because there were not forge specific or well utilized maps at launch.

Timesplitters Future Perfect came with 15 maps, and you can make more.

Yes, and maybe more
Don’t know about H2 because I never got to play it day 1, but Halo 3 had co-op,splitscreen, a working custom games, forge and theater. Good variety of gamemodes ,maps and very good challenge/achievements based rewards.

Basically because of forge, more maps can be created until the ''official ‘’ map pack comes out. Which is what happened with Halo 3.

Infinite is missing quite a big chunk of that list, its emphasis is more on sucking your wallet dry instead of the fun factor, especially social.

Yes, and halo 3 and halo 2 weren’t really known for their incredible arsenal of maps. If you played 5v5 halo 3 back in it’s matchmaking days, you would get easily bored without the DLC maps.
Plus, these games had their main focus on Campaign and the story, Halo infinite marketed and focused a lot more on the MP than the story. And to top that, Halo 3 and 2 had 3 years of development, Halo infinite had 6 and had a massive focus on multiplayer. Halo 2 and 3 had more BTB maps at launch and had bigger 4v4 maps. Halo in general has different variations and styles of maps which is lacking in Infinite: Halo 3 had boring small and tight 8 player maps but it also had much more bigger 8 player maps like High ground, The pit, Construct, Isolation, Snowbound (Later on Ghost town and Sandbox in DLC). Halo infinite has close quarters tight 4v4 maps similar to those in the previous games like Orbital, Heretic (Midship in H2), Foundry, Lockout etc… My point is Halo infinite has only one type of 8 player map, making it pretty boring, Halo 3 and 2 had variety in their map design. Movement is another factor in this, spartans in infinite are a lot faster than those in Halo 3 and 2, even in walking speed you can walk across the map like it’s a walk in the park.

Guardian wasn’t boring to me.

Launch Site and Recharge are different.
I think part of the problem with Infinite’s maps is that they either have an appealing environment or an interesting layout, but not both.

I love this someone calling out everyone crying a false narrative 7 Arena maps 3 BTB maps yes 4 BTB maps would have been better but 10 maps and now with Season 2 starting 12 maps Did you know if you do the math Game modes there are 10 different game modes in Arena 11 if you count Attrition and 11 new ones coming out today for Season 2 so 11 game modes plus 4 in BTB
So May 3rd Halo came out December 8th or November if you want to count the beta we are looking at a total of 12 maps and all together and 26 game modes in Halo Infinite and it has been out for 5 months yeah 343 is lazy yeah what have 343 been doing stop crying and enjoy the best shooter to be released in the past 3 yrs.

Launch site is not a very fun map at all

Halo 2 was an overall better game than Infinite… everything about Halo 2 was amazing… sure it had bugs but for a game that came out on a device in 2004 and has a better net code than Infinite tells you a lot. It’s 2022 the game shouldn’t be having networking issues we have better technology, better networking, etc… it just blows my mind that everyone wants “content” but nobody wants the net code fixed? So you’d rather get shinny new maps and play them with complete lag and desync issues… Sounds about fun!

You still can’t argue that you could play Halo 2 on dial up in 2004 and have a better connection than Halo Infinite on Fiber… that’s how bad the net-code is…

I was a little bit sad when I found out Launch Site wasn’t a Countdown remake.

I do hope that Forge releases with pre-built versions of some classic maps like Reach did. Or at the very least is powerful enough for the community to make some damn good remakes that get featured in Matchmaking.

It’s really sad that we can’t do that right now.

The amount of disappointment I felt when I saw three seconds of the map before the match finally began its starting phase was insurmountable.
I saw the sabre fighter and was filled with joy to see how Countdown would play with Halo Infinite’s equipment… only to be disappointed by the map we received being a dozen times less so.

The difference between Halo 2 & 3 and Halo Infinite was that Halo Infinite didn’t have everything at launch and a lot of gamemodes were missing.

The thing that makes a game special is not the amount of maps it has, but the amount of gamemodes it has and the replayability. Halo 2 had a ton of gamemodes at launch and it was fresh. Halo 3 not only had a ton of gamemodes at launch but also Forge. Halo Infinite? None of that, we only got a few gamemodes and no forge/co-op at launch.

Despite it having a longer development time than 2 and 3, I believe that it should’ve had more maps at launch this conflicts with my argument above but still fits and as much gamemodes as 2 and 3 at launch.

We really do deserve better.

For sure.
They need to put folks on quick turn around maps. Have them build straight remakes in slipspace and then iterate quickly and push them out the door.
They dont have to be lockout tier experiences just varied.
