I made this late last year in a Graphic Design class I was taking. Halo fever was going strong at the time for HCEA to come out and I didn’t really like the official logo w/ a giant “X” behind MC’s head so I came up w/ this concept. Hope you all enjoy.
Really good! I like how the parts of the Pillar of Autumn are darker to show the structure of the ship better. Great job!
Question: why did you make part of the “L” and “O” a sort of bronze color? It looks fine that way, I was just wondering your reasoning is all

I too am curious of your reasoning.

Because they are suppose to be the number ten. That being said, I personally think the over all design is super clunky (for lack of a better term) and rushed. Had French Fry not said that was the Pillar of Autumn, I wouldn’t have known what it was. The ring looks good. But over all I think it needs a lot of work.

I didn’t realize it was a ten. Personally, I think it could use a little work as well. Im not a fan of bronze as a color so that probably why i didn’t like the ten but the concept is cool, it just needs a little work.

I agree, very cool concept but the Bronze just doesn’t look right to me.
That’s just my opinion of course i think the rest is great
Good to see people getting into design :). I just graduated with a Graphic Design degree, myself.
I’m to assume, for your class, you did this in Adobe Illustrator. You may want to consider saving the file for web and devices as a PNG-24, as opposed to the JPEG you posted. That will rid the objects of that pesky white outline.
I like the concept of inserting the ‘10’ into the ‘L’ and ‘O,’ but will agree with everyone that the bronze color does not suit the Halo logo, especially as a 10th anniversary piece. Perhaps Master Chief green would suffice.
Also, take into consideration that there is a top-down white to blue gradient in the Halo logo, while you chose to add a circular gradient from the center of the ‘1’ and ‘0.’ It throws off the balance and makes the numbers feel even more out of place.
It looks great overall! Could use a little work on the Pillar of Autumn but I liked how part of the “L” and the “O” were colored to make a 10, great job
Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
Glad you all liked it. I was a bit of a novice designer at the time so I’d really like to touch it up a bit now looking back on it.
Part of the reason why I wanted to keep aspects of the PoA dark was for lighting reasons especially b/c it’s in space, but I can see how it makes the ship a bit difficult to make out.
I really wanted to throw in the surface details of the ring too, but I just ran out of time. This reflected on the “10” out of the “LO” as well. The bronze just didn’t really pop out well especially w/ a black background.
Nicely done XD…this would look awesome for canvas art.
