Towards the end of halo 1 when the chief finds out the truth about halo and refuses to fir it.Why does 343 say something along the line of “Last time you asked me if i’d do it having considerable time to think my answer has not changed” when they had just met for the first time?
After all these years that’s still unknown. I hope the final book in the Forerunner trilogy answers this.
All this talk of forerunners implanting memories and the like into peoples genes means it could have something to do with that. Or 343 could just be going insane.
Maybe we’ll find out…

Most likely Spark had a temporary memory glitch, causing him to confuse the Chief for someone else. As evidenced by the books and other media, Spark does have the capability to distinguish between individuals, so I can only fathom he experienced a momentary memory glitch.
As Nihilus stated, we really don’t know for sure, and hopefully future media will explain it.
One of the more brilliant seeds planted very early in.
or maby there was somthing erlier in it that was cut? that we never learned about?
See, I had believed that perhaps Chakas or Riser would’ve been present during the activation of the Halos and one of them asked Spark what he would’ve done. Chakas is out since he is a monitor doing his thing, but it still could be Riser. Heh, I get a kick out of that, Riser activating the Halos.
Just how I see it though.
My theory is that all Forerunner A.I. consider all human to be “Reclaimer”. Meaning Reclaimer seems to be more of an umbrella term rather than specific to just the Chief. 343 refers to a few others as Reclaimer through the original trilogy. 343 could simply be referring to a previous Reclaimer when saying this.
or he could simply be showing signs of his obvious rampancy…

Reclaimer is indeed a blanket term of Humanity. Every human is Reclaimer, and through the games and media, 343 has been shown to be able to distinguish between individual humans.
“This Reclaimer is delecate” - 343 Guilty Spark referring to Miranda Keyes
I would imagine it ties into his decent into Rampancy. My personal theory is he was referring to the Didact (Bornstellar).
