Is it accurate to say humanity and the forerunners were supposed to be the same thing in bungies games? I was always expecting it to be revealed at some point that we were the same thing just after the array firing and starting over.

Also based on 343i making the humans and forerunners enemies in ancient times wouldnt that make the covenant right? Would that not make humans like demons for going against the forerunners?

There was a reason the ancient humans attacked the forerunners, it’s being touched on in the Halo 4 terminals. If you really want to know more about it I’d suggest reading the Forerunner trilogy!

It wasn’t certain in the earlier games. Halo 3’s terminals point to humanity being seperate.
And no it still doesn’t make the covenant right, as the Forerunners still left their toys for humanity to inherit.
Last year, I wrote up a complete history of the human-Forerunner connection, looking at it from both the narrative perspective as well as what we know about how this changed behind the scenes. It’s far more complicated than I think a forum post can resolve.
but, I mean, there is a lot of circumstantial evidence to support that they were the same early on in development. How early though? mmm… I don’t know. Maybe Bungie had already started drifting away from the idea before the first Halo game even released.
It would be fun (and time consuming) though to try to dig up all of the Halo 1 pre-release material.

Please refrain from posting multiple times in a row. You can edit your posts to add information and respond to multiple people in a single post. There is pretty much never an excuse to quote yourself.
Yes and no. Bungle never had a clear vision of them until Halo 3: which, I will remind you, featured Terminals that Frank O’ Connor wrote - the same man who took major part in Halo 4’s development.
i should mention current Forerunner lore suggests they were the same. but developed into something separate before the Human-Forerunner war.
