Issue
There is a pretty awful hit detection in the net code residing in Halo’s 1&2 Classic, making the competitive edge a lackluster experience which turns the entirety of the game useless to play, since Halo is all about pinpoint accuracy and cognitive skills, this ruins it.
----------------------
Halo CE
In order for a shot to register, I have to completely move the crosshair off target and shoot the air (as player is moving) in order for a hit.
Halo 2
The same goes for Halo 2, its not as terrible as Halo 1 but competitive feel is just lost, Halo is not meant to be played which such sporadic uncertainty.
Conclusion
A game released in this generation with this type of major flaw has no place for continuous gameplay, let alone a true skill ranking system.
Since these are the PC ports they DO NOT play like the originals 10 years ago (which you said it would 343), I have played both PC titles and have encountered these very same issues with hit detection and never went back, I stayed on the console from where it was birthed.
Destiny can be used as a great example, the overall game experience can be dry, but on the networking infrastructure side, it is truly marvelous, and that’s why people come back to play, because they don’t have to deal with a broken network making the game almost unplayable.
Configuration
Before anyone touts that it may be my connection, I say, just ask other users for their input, other than that, here is my network statistics.
Netgear router 10/100/1000 capable ports.
Hardwired cat 6 ethernet connection.
UPnP disabled
XBL Ports forwarded
ISP 50up, 50down
NAT Open
The consumers can only tinker their network so much before the realization of the games horrible net code becomes a fact.

Side note
As a veteran Halo player and fan since the launch of CE, thrills of Halo 2 online (legit 35 :p), and leading up to a definitive experience with Halo 3…
Master chief collection captures nothing but flaws and frusteration since day 1.
With next week marking its 1 month, I am speechless on how this game become to be.
Still hoping (of what’s left) that this “Collection” can become the Halo it was meant to be.
